you fluttered your eyes open and made eye contact with the cream-coloured ceiling. you darted your eyes to your left, feeling a weight on your shoulder and saw your best friend, pieck.

she was snuggled comfortably against you and slept so soundly, that you had to slightly sit up to check if she wasn't dead.

your heart was beating rapidly as you reach out, hesitantly to caress her messy ebony hair. soft you thought as your cheeks heat up when it finally hit you: you slept in the same bed with your crush! how did it happen? you had no clue, the only thing that mattered to you now was the warmth of the sleeping beauty beside you.

you close your eyes, feeling giddy with excitement and having a stupid smile form as you face the ceiling once more while listening to her soft snores.

you tried to stay put as you didn't want to disturb pieck from her peaceful slumber, you enjoyed the silence as you zoned out.

it felt like hours before someone barged into the room, you quickly sat up, shocked at the sudden noise and saw gaillard smirking towards you.

your face muscles relaxed but you glared at him"what is it?" you snapped at him, softly and bit your inner cheek in embarrassment. pieck was all over you, face buried in your chest and your hand was on top of her soft raven head. it was definitely a sight to see, especially to porco who knew about your long-time crush on the small woman, he had been nagging you to confess the moment he found out about your feelings for pieck.

"so you finally got the courage to ask her out? or...did you decide to put your mitts on her while she slept?" he folded his arms as he leaned against the doorway.

"what? why would you even think that?!" you screeched quietly. "i honestly don't know how we ended up like this, not that i mind," you mumbled the last part.

"i see, well then wake pieck up and get ready, we're going to see gabi, falco and the others" with that, he left the room.

"okay.." you felt uneasy, soon one of those kids were going to inherit your best friend's powers in less than a year, it made your heart drop to your stomach just thinking about it.

damn that curse you swore to yourself.

you looked over at pieck to wake her up only to meet eyes with hooded ones, she had a small smile rested upon her pretty face. your heart almost dropped to your ass.

"i'm sorry! i didn't mean to wake you up, piku" you blurted out, in a panicky tone.

a small airy laugh escaped from her lips, "piku? you haven't called me that in how many years?" her voice was raspier than usual due to her just waking up, it made you feel hot. pieck, let go of you, much to your disappointment.

you nod and play with your silky sleeping garments, "it just slipped out" you squeeze your eyes shut as your cheeks got hotter.

you felt the bed dip and return to its normal size, you glance up and see her carefully walk to her closet.

"y/n, what was porco talking about?" she asked as she opened her closet door and removed her marleyan armband.
