Wakatoshi Ushijima has always been left out of everything and it slowly teared away at him. He was always know to be energetic and happy, but people would always say that he was annoying and loud. After years of being left out, Ushijima decided that he didn't have the energy to express his feelings, or hide them with a smile. The only time he ever felt happy was when he played volleyball. He spent most of his time practicing alone. He didn't really look forward to anything and his days were lonesome.

Suddenly, his mom had lost her job. They had to move away because she could only find a job in a different town. Ushijima's "friends" said goodbye to him over text but he knew that they wouldn't care either way.

It was the middle of his eighth grade year. He didn't mind moving because he thought that he could get away from the past.

Ushijima went into school on the first day, not expecting to act the way he did. He found himself being very cold and emotionless. He barely spoke unless it was absolutely necessary and he said the bare minimum.

The day went by very slowly, but later on he would check out the volleyball club. He wasn't necessarily looking forward to it but he thought it was better than his old school at least. His old school didn't have a volleyball club so he spent his time practicing at his old house.

He found it rather odd that he couldn't stand people who had baseless and unfounded confidence. People like that reminded him of his old "friends". But, most of the people in his new school didn't talk to him because he look intense and unapproachable. The people who did talk to him were only forcing themselves too.

After school, he headed to the gym. He hadn't even stepped foot in the gym before a guy with fiery hair came up to him. He looked like someone that he would hate but for some reason he wasn't annoyed.

The guy had introduced himself and even though it didn't look like it, Ushijima payed attention the whole time.

"Hi! My name is Satori Tendō. You can just call me Tendō. What's your name?"

Ushijima didn't reply. He wasn't really interested in making friends, since his last ones didn't even treat him like one.

Tendō wasn't fazed by this. He moved on pretty quickly. He kept talking even if he knew that the person that he had just met wasn't listening.

It was the start of practice and they were put into two teams. Of course Tendō was on his team. He didn't mind it but the guy would not stop talking to him. He was focused on the game and blocked everything and everyone out. He felt safe.
