The next morning, we all were still up. I couldn't sleep last night. Actually, no one could. We all stayed up and tried to comfort each other as much as we could. You could still hear them roaming the halls outside. On a regular basis, Mrs. Holbrook would look outside and watch them lurk the halls. They were really disgusting. I didn't know what they were or how they got here. Mrs. Holbrook tried turning on the radio and the tv every ten minutes or so. It was just so stressful watching her pace around the classroom like a dog. The fear in her eyes let us all know that she didn't know what to do. That was the scariest part

. We all didn't know what to do. We just sat there silent, sometimes we would talk, but the thought of our families out there was pretty scary. I kept thinking about the little things. Like, what if my mom and dad tried to get me out, but they didn't make it? That's what made me cry the most. I cried non-stop. Actually, everybody did. You could hear crying everywhere. You could hear crying beneath the walls too. That was the reassuring thing about this whole thing. There were people that were actually surviving like we were doing. For food, Mrs. Holbrook kept some chips in her drawers and she would give us just a little to survive. Of course, sharing four bags of chips with 30 other people didn't exactly last long and we eventually ran out of food. You don't even want to know what we used to use the bathroom. Of course, everybody tried to hold it in.

One boy in my class stood up.

"We can't do this anymore. I'm opening the window and we're going to get out of here."

"Jared, sit down.'

Mrs. Holbrook stood in the front of us all.

"Jared is right though. We can't do this anymore. We're running out of food. You guys are old enough to know that whatever those things are, they are going to get in here somehow. We have to escape or at least get up on the roof. We have to see what everything looks like or if there are any people still alive. We have to go into the halls and get some of the guns that are lying in the hallway. We have to make weapons. Everybody, try your best to snap the legs off of your desks. Everything is going to be okay. I will go first and if I don't make it, then everybody get on top of the roof and stay together."

We were kind of lucky to be on the third floor. Everybody was already starting to open the windows and get in position to step onto the legde. After Mrs. Holbrook was ready, she opened the door forcefully and closed the door. Another girl in my class, rushed over and got ready in case we needed to lock it. The things didn't notice Mrs. Holbrook. That was the surprising thing. They were all just walking around like they normally do. I didn't really understand what was happening, but it was kind of weird. After she had gotten to about the third locker across from mine, one noticed her and leaped on top of her. Fortunately, she had gotten a knife that she kept for an example when she got to the third chapter that we were learning. It was an ancient Egyptian knife that she had gotten in Egypt. She stabbed the monster in the throat and carried on. It feel to it's back and disappeared. All that was left was a small pile of dust. When she reached a gun that was lying in the middle of the hallway, she grabbd it and kept walking. She killed a couple of monsters on the way by herself. The whole floor was cleared. We opened the door just a crack when we all started to slowly walk out. Mrs. Holbrook closed and locked all the doors leading towards the stairs. I felt safe for the first time in this nightmare. When we knew everything was safe, we opened a few doors to some other classrooms. Students and teachers came out one by one. It was nice to actually see some more people. I actually had more friends in the other classes than I did the one that I was in. I was relieved to see some more people. We cautiously opened the doors to the bathrooms. There was nothing in any of them. We took turns going to the bathroom. It was nice to feel safe again. When we sorted everything out, the teachers opened the walls to their classrooms and eventually made a huge room that we all could stay in. We gathered all the food that people had in their lockers, in the teacher's desks, and even some food in the janitors room. We ended up with a whole table full of food. That could easly last us all a week or so. After everything was set in place and we had gotten the desks where we wanted them, the teachers locked the doors again.

Mrs. Holbrook, Mrs. Heart, and Mr. Cox, stepped in the front of the large room.

"Now that we have everything where we want it to, we can all relax for just a little bit. Thanks to Mrs. Holbrook, she cleared the halls and made it safe for us to safely use the bathroom and wander around like normal human beings. We have to keep the doors locked at all times and if any of you need to use the restroom, then please tell us and we will escort you there. I may caution you, we are still in danger of any attack, so please be prepared if we do have to evacuate at any time. Two of us at a time will go on the roof and see how bad it is outside. When we run out of food, we will try and get to the nearest grocery store. There's one right down the street. If any of you, have a working cell phone please tell us. Since we have collected many weapons to use, we will make our way to the second floor and try to save anybody that is down there."

When Mr. Cox was done talking, we got to talk and hang about. It was so nice to be safe, but we all knew that wouldn't last a very long time.
