"Mona, come on!"

"I can't. I'm sorry."

I looked up from my sitting spot at the college's volleyball stadium. Whenever I had free period, I would come here and try to relax. Plus, I love volleyball. A couple girls had barged in a few seconds ago, some stopping to check out the 'hot' volleyball players.

"Mona, come on, we can't get enough people to come without you. You're like, everyone's favorite girl."

The girl I now knew as Mona sighed. "I'm not even going. You know how I feel about Valentine's Day."

The other girl rolled her eyes. "I get you're anti-Vals Day, but at least help me get other people to come. Please?"

Mona stared at the girl for a moment and then shook her head. "I'm sorry, Cindy."

Cindy pressed her lips into a tight line and stormed off. Mona then walked up the stairs towards me. I didn't think she saw me though, cause her head was downcast.

As fate would have it, Mona stopped at the row in front of mine and sat at the furthest seat to the left. She flipped open a book and began reading, her head still downcast. Before the cover fully opened, I caught a peek of what she was reading.

"Tankado dies, you know."

Mona jerked and whipped around to me. I turned back as well to check what she was looking at. It took me three seconds to realize I was the one that spoke to her.

"Is that your specialty? Spoilerology?"

I faced her again. "Don't mind me. I babble sometimes."

"You don't look like a babbler."

I looked her in the eyes. "What do I look like?"

Mona shut her Digital Fortress copy. "A recluse."

My hands fisted in my laps as I took a deep breath. I then abruptly stood and stared down at Mona.

"Funny, you're just like the rest of them."
