You gasped slightly, the face of what seemed to be a man a haunting grey as his eyes stared through you. Your voice got stuck in your throat as you fell backwards meeting the cold concrete.
"Don't worry, beautiful, you'll be next!" He spoke as you watched him lick blood from what you assumed to be the woman's hand... only detached. His wild expression made it hard for you to not feel fear, everything becoming darker than it should've been.
'What is this?! Cannibalism?!' You thought as you slid away slowly, too scared to make any big movements. 'How will I get away this time?' You closed your eyes as the man soared towards you faster than you believed a person could be... but the time you had guesstimated his arrival to be was much longer. You never felt any pain, but instead heard him yelp in pain. The crying of the man forced your eyelids to peel open to see what terrifying monster would be the cause of it, only it was no monster.
'No way...' you thought as your expression became one of shock. It was amusing, expecting to see a monster but instead encountering a warm, honey colored, set of eyes that seemed to linger on you longer than they should have as they returned to the sickly pale man he had cornered. With one swift movement you watched those same eyes that had seemed so kind turn dark as he pulled the trigger to a gun you had no clue he had even pulled out. 'So fast...' you gasped lightly to yourself. 'Huh... just who is this boy'
As if finally awaken from a dull dream you felt a sharp pain in your shoulder as you winced and gasped in pain. "Ow..." you whimpered, the boy's eyes shooting towards you, his knees hitting the ground beside you almost instantly.
"Are you okay?!" He shouted.
Wincing, you smiled and nodded. "I'm fine, thanks. Never been better." You sarcastically stated, not necessarily trying to be rude. His worried look soon turned to disappointment as he looked back at the gruesome scene laid before you. You then realized, maybe joking wasn't the best thing right now. You hadn't even really let it all sink in yet, the boy seemed to understand that.
"You're the new girl from school, right? I never caught your name..." he trailed off.
"(Y/n). It's (y/n)." You said blankly, touching the area you felt pain only to wince once again from the sharp pain that seemed to shoot down your arm.
The boy's eyes instantly fell to your shoulder and seemed to catch his breath. "Are you sure you're okay? That's a deep wound, you know..."
"Hey, I get to decide whether it hurts or not okay." You frowned and looked away to hide the twitch in your expression as more pain shot through your body. After a few moments you sighed and glanced back towards the boy, "name?" Was all you said.
As first he seemed shocked but soon recovered. "I'm kyojuro! Rengoku Kyojuro!" He smiled brightly seeming to have forgotten about the situation at hand. "You can call me Kyojuro, though. I prefer people to not use my last name, it makes me feel old." He chuckled nervously as you looked away, as if in thought.
"I'm not used to using last names anyways." Was all you said as you closed your eyes and stood up. "One more question though."
"Hm?"
"What the hell just happened?!" You shouted in obvious shock still. "And where the hell did you even come from?!"

Kyojuro wrapped your shoulder up as you struggled to stay awake, all the adrenaline seeming to have worn off now. He had explained that you had experienced an atrocity, a demon. His ancestors had eradicated them once, but through some means they had become a thing again. It was unknown how, but more and more had been spotted recently. Therefore, he and a few others were tasked with finding and killing them. It had startled you a bit, but hadn't sunk in until after the adrenaline wore off.
"So you're some kind of vigilante?" You asked.
He chuckled and shook his head. "Not really, I'm just saving people like yourself." His smile slowly fell, probably recounting the remains of the women he had not been able to save. "The ones that I can, anyways."
You frowned. "Well, thanks, I'd be a goner if not for you." You tried to cheer him up which he recognized and tried to smile. "Hey, no fakes. Smile for real, it's a miracle people like you exist. I find it hard to believe there are many people willing to risk their lives fighting those things."
It seemed to work as he gave a light-hearted laugh and gave your head a pat. "Thanks, (y/n)."
Your face shot up in a flurry of red, although hidden by the darkness. You looked away and stood up. "I should get going. If mom wakes up she'll worry." You gave a small smile and started running towards your building, climbing the side of it so you don't have to use the front door. Kyojuro watched with surprise, he didn't expect you to be the athletic type. He was kind of charming in a way. At least to him...
"You're something special, (y/n). But just who are you?" He smiled to himself as he turned to walk to his own home.
He would have to tell Ubayshiki everything that happened, mostly because he half expected you to someday join their efforts, even if it was t right now. You were so talented already... he wouldn't believe it if you decided not to join. But it was your decision to make either way.
He was excited for once though... something everyone was able to sense the next day at school when he seemed more bright than ever before.
A/N: short chapter... ahh, sorry it's so late too, I have a job and some medical issues and school and I didn't have the time, but here...! I hope it was somewhat to your expectations
