For the next few chapters, we are going to be looking at "The Scarlet Eyes" episodes (anime) and chapter (manga). I will try to go in chronological order so there won't be as many flashbacks. I will also change William's (original) age. Ok, thanks for reading me ramble on. Enjoy the chapter!
Y/n POV (9 years old)( 1 year before "The Scarlet Eyes"):
"This is our new home. Don't you like it?" my "mother," asks me as I look at the large building in front of me. It looked fairly new, maybe being built a few years ago as I stand in front of the metal gates. I would say it was mostly made of concrete and stone bricks because of its drab outside. Though it was large, it didn't use that to its advantage.
"It's not our home. It's not even our house," I briefly say as I see a figure approach the gates.
"Mind your manners, we will stay here and work. This family is one of the richest in London, we are lucky to even stand outside the manor. Stay quiet and only speak when spoken to," Mary commands me as the gate begins to open. I only nod in response, not wanting to anger my unofficial adoptive mother, knowing she could very well send me back to where I came from.
"I assume you two are the new workers," I hear a man say, towering over me and looking down on me like I was pathetic trash. He was wearing a black butler's suit and a small pair of spectacles. "My name is Simeon, I am one of the head butlers here at the Moriarty estate, meaning I am your superior. You will do as I say or as the Moriarty's say and you must not speak back," Simeon tells the both of us, mainly directing his words towards me.
"Yes sir," I say, slightly bowing as I hold my hands behind my back. Once I look back up to the butler, I can see a surprised look in his eyes, not that his stoic face would give it away. I feel the urge to smirk, but as I slightly glance at Mary, I see her giving me an "intimidating" glare. She could never intimidate me with only a look; it was once she brought up the idea of no food that I would begin to feel daunted.
"I will show you two to your living quarters. There you will find your attire and you will continuously wear it until the laundry day, which is once a month, or if something disastrous is to happen to them," Simeon explains as we begin to head inside the house. I look along the walls of the house and notice all the large portraits of ugly white men that line them. Compared to the outside, the inside was fairly colourful with its mix of the red carpet and green wallpaper. However, I had a feeling that those features were in many large houses for noblemen and clubhouses, so they weren't very unique. "You both will be serving the masters food at 5 o clock, sharp. Being late will immediately terminate both your employment contracts, is that understood?" Simeon says we stop in front of a worn-down door, likely because it was constantly being used.
"Yes sir, is there anything else you would like to inform us of?" I ask, making Simeon look directly me in the eyes. Mary slightly jumped at the intense glare as I keep my neutral face on, already prepared for anything the Moriarty's would throw my way.
"You must listen to all your superior's instructions, whether that be the middle of the day or the middle of the night, you are expected to serve," Simeon finishes saying as he pulls out a small pocket watch. "It is currently 3:11, giving you plenty of time to clean up and change. At 4, you are to help the other maids cook the supper," he says, pointing at Mary, making her slightly flinch, before turning and pointing towards me. "And you are to clean out the private library once you finish changing out of those rags you call clothes. The cleaning supplies should be resting on your bed, along with your clothes. Those will be your cleaning supplies for everything you do around this estate and you will not receive any replacement until these are completely worn out," Simeon tells me as I nod, showing that I understand what he is saying.
