Chapter 1-
The smell of fresh air filled my nostrils. It was a beautiful day today. The forest was filled with a healthy lush green color. It seemed to be beaming. Birds were chirping. The sun was shining. The animals were out to play. I smirked; it was a lovely day to hunt.
I loved the outdoors. Everything about nature was fascinating to me. I heard leaves crunch to my left. I started to crouch and looked over to see what caused the sound. A deer. A lovely day indeed. He was walking towards the river that was a few meters away. He was walking confidently towards the river, so it was clear that he did not notice me. Which was a good thing considering I noticed him. A deer is exactly what I need. A good feeding will help clear my mind. I've had quite a frustrating morning.
"You're going to high school." I flinched at the memory. High school. I bitter thought entered my mind. Why would mom do this to me? Send me to high school when she knows how I feel. She knows just how much I despise humans. After what they did to my father-I winced at the thought. I tried to remind mom that humans are evil. Nothing good comes out of trusting those beings. All they cared about were themselves and money.
Mom said that they changed. That what happened to dad was a long time ago. The eighteen hundreds to be exact. Yes, my family is that old. Mom still socializes with humans. She says it keeps her sane and it's nice to keep up with what they have going on. The crunch of leaves pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see that the deer has reached the river and was now drinking from the river.
I silently walked towards it. Nice and slowly just like Mom taught me. Killing animals was not my favorite thing to do, but it was better than feeding off of humans. Although there are some clans out there that do just that. It was frowned upon to feed off humans in the vampire world but not banned.
Not wanting to wait anymore I lunged towards the deer. We both collapsed under my weight. I sunk my teeth into the deer's neck. It made a struggle, so I sunk my teeth lower effectively killing him. The deer collapsed on the ground, and I finished my feeding. Draining the deer completely.
When I was finished I brought the deer's body further into the forest. I'm sure something could feed off of it. I just didn't want that something to be anywhere near the house. No matter how powerful vampires were fighting wild cats and bears was not pleasant.
I walked back to my home once I was finished moving the deer's body. My home was large and intimidating. I could lie and say that it gave off a nice warm aura, but to be honest it had an eerie feel to it. The humans called it the haunted house. I snorted at the idiocy. I loved our home, even though it gave off some creepy vibes.
I could hear beautiful piano music playing when I walked inside. I followed the music as Moonlight Sonata filled our home. I stopped outside of my brother's room. The door was open, so I was able to see my brother sitting at his large grand piano that was sitting in the middle of his room. His lanky fingers smoothly moving across the keys. A small bed was placed in the corner of the room. Although it was really there for decoration. Vampires could sleep, but only for a few hours, and only if we were really exhausted. Why bother?
My brothers playing was engrossing. I watched, impressed, as his pale fingers moved. My brother could make 'twinkle little star' sound like heaven. He was very talented when it came to anything related to music. Of course, he has years of practice.
I walked further into the room. My brother didn't react to my presence. He just continued to play. It almost pained me how much my older brother resembled my dad. Strong jaw, pale skin, black hair and piercing green eyes. His black hair was hanging in his eyes. My brother resembled a seventeen year old, while I resembled a sixteen year old. Of course, we were much older than that.
