This was not the place for her, she knew that, hell, even Merlin knew it, but the law was the law. She was the owner of the beautifully crafted sword Excalibur, which meant she would marry Arthur, the crowned prince of Camelot. She sighed as she leaned her head against Merlin's back, this city was going too big for her and it was going to suffocate her. She didn't know when or how, but she just knew it was going to happen. She knew she would never live this city again. The horse finally came to stop and she looked up as Merlin got off the horse. As she looked up she saw that they had reached the court yard of the castle. Merlin held out his hand and she took allowing him to slide her off the horse and into his arms. Feelings she had never felt before rushed through her body as she stared into Merlin's intense gaze. They both heard a cough behind them, they turned to see a man standing behind him. With the way he held himself she could only imagine that he was the King. In fact, she knew the King, she hated the King. He was tall, thin and some what muscular. Looking at his body she could tell he was a skillful knight in his youth. His hair was graying and his eyes were worn, but he was still a very handsome man.

“Merlin” The man spoke with such authority, that even Merlin pause in his step. Katheryn knew this was a voice she would have to get used to, a voice that she would have to get used to following, even if she hated the man; after all he was the King.

“My Lord, this is Katheryn, she has pulled Excalibur from the stone” Merlin bowed his head slightly as he nudged her forward. She pulled the sword out of its sheath and held it out. The king took it and examined it briefly then after being seemingly satisfied with the examination he handed it back to her. She took it back with a little bit of hesitation before grabbing it quickly and putting it back in the make shift sheath. He looked back at Merlin still without saying anything to Katheryn. “Katheryn, this is Uther, the King of Camelot”

“My Lord, it's an honor” Katheryn bowed her head as was polite. The king looked at her briefly, he didn't even bother to take her hand, which was customary for the royal family to do when meeting other important people. Of course Katheryn knew she obviously wasn't that important if the King couldn't be bothered to even give her more then a glance.

“I'm sure the pleasure is all mine” The King spoke softly, and politely, but he turned away almost instantly. Katheryn wasn't surprised, she didn't look her best. She looked a mess, dirty and just plain disgusting. She hadn't planned on being forced to remove the sword from the stone and get dragged to the castle to marry the crowned prince. She hadn't exactly dressed for the occasion. The King even turned his head in what she might call a royal gesture as he called out. “Arthur”

Katheryn looked over at Merlin, who smiled at her encouragingly, but the smile never reached his eyes. She noticed that as intense as his gaze was, his eyes never showed any emotions. If the King noticed something he never said anything as they all sat there in what seemed to be an awkward silence for what seemed to be forever. She finally pulled her gaze away from his when a tall young man came out of the castle. He didn't hide his disgust as his gray eyes landed on her face. He was almost handsome enough to forgive the looks that passed over his face. She scowled she wasn't about to let him win. She did let her eyes wondered his body just so she knew what her future husband looked like. His dark brown hair was cut short against his head, his skin was tan and his body was well toned. She could tell he kept in shape, after all he was a knight of Camelot. He was the leader of the the knights, if he couldn't keep himself in shape, how could he keep the other knights in shape? Katheryn lowered her gaze as Arthur came down the stairs to stand at his father's side.

“Arthur” Uther spoke this time he sounded a bit annoyed at his son's reaction to Katheryn and how slow he was to respond to his father's request to come to his side. After all he was a teenage boy, even someone raised in the royal court didn't always want to obey their parents.. “This is Lady Katheryn, she has pulled the sword from the stone”
