Sasuke sat back in his chair, barely keeping his eyes open as Kakashi read over the story and stopped to analyze each chapter. As he did, I sat there like an idiot wondering just how could he still be in this class if he barely paid any attention at all.

"And as I said, you can do the bookwork by yourself or with a partner." Kakashi stared at Naruto, thinking over what he just said, "Actually, screw that, all of you, work as a group."

Quickly, the other students grabbed their books and pencils and made their way over next to or in front of Sasuke, wasn't he the magnet.

"Sasuke, are you sure you're getting all this?" The pink haired girl asked, tapping her pencil on Sasuke's hand, waking him up.

"I got it." He assured. "Let's just get this done and over." He picked up his pencil as the girls started talking about the questions and the text.

Nobody seemed to realize there was a new person sitting next to Sasuke, not that I didn't mind, I assure you.

"How about you? What do you think of question four?" The boy asked. I assumed he was talking to Sasuke, so I didn't even lift my head from the text as I answered another question on paper.

I felt a little nudge on my shoulder, and my attention was on Sasuke, before realizing the rest of the group now had eyes on me. Tapping Sasuke back, I motioned him to answer for me and tell them my problem, but the bastard was too sleepy to notice my tapping.

So, I did what I could, I wrote on my paper, 'I can't talk' and showed the group. They must've thought I was sick or had a sore throat or something, because the same boy asked me to just speak slowly, that way it wouldn't hurt so much.

"He can't speak." Sasuke mumbled. "He's mute."

"Ohhh." The boy awkwardly gave a smile, "I'm sorry."

I gave a smile back, nudging Sasuke to tell him it was fine, but guess what? He's silent and his eyes are closed and I swear I'm about to grab my pencil and- no. No, no, no. I'm not a violent person.

"Have you all stopped goofing around and finished?" Kakashi had walked on over and stood behind the boy, eyeing the worksheet. "Lee, you need to read the text more carefully."

"Eh?" Lee looked back towards his sheet, wondering which question he'd gotten wrong as Kakashi moved on to the pink haired girl.

"You're forgetting something." He pointed to the first question and moved on to the next girl, "Ah, Hinata, you just need one more detail." He said, holding the sheet in his hand.

"Let's see what you have so far, Naruto."

"Naruto? That's an nice name, I'm Sakura." The pink hair girl smiled and waved at me, I waved back with a smile to match hers.

"Ah, yes, forgive me Naruto is new here, I expect you all to treat him with respect like anybody else." Kakashi warned, "also, Naruto, this is very impressive. Have you ever written anything?"

'What do you mean?' I signed.

"Its fine if you don't know, you're new here after all. Each week we have a writing contest with all the other literature classes. The prizes are very helpful too." Kakashi explained, the three nodding their heads.

"Yeah, and I heard Principle Tsunade's making the prizes better next month!" Lee mused.

"It'd be great if you participated." Kakashi said, putting my worksheet down. "You can write on any topic, any style of writing."

I nodded, 'I guess I'll think about it.'

"Good." Kakashi nodded and began walking back to his seat. "If you are all done, wait until the end of class to turn it in. You should be finishing up by now." He looked at his watch, "Take the rest of the time to work on something else for another class, we're done for the day."
