YEAR 2017

6th February - 1st Day in High School. Studying abroad (My 4th Year)

1500 hrs

I am now on the floor trying to squeeze my food storage into this locker. Today is my first day in this new environment and as always it's hard for me to initiate a conversation or to even be around strangers. Thankfully, my roommate is a really nice and funny girl, so she approach me first with an Oreo (my favourite) in her right hand.

" Hey my name is Hailey, do you perhaps want to taste this beautiful yet tasty Oreo biscuit that I'm offering you?" says Hailey, grinning from ear to ear.

"Sure, thanks. My name is Grace. It's nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too Grace, so do you like it here so far? Did any of your friends transferred here with you? Or do you feel hungry?" she asks me without catching her breath.

" Well, uhm I will say the dormitory layout is better from my old school and yes I do have a few friends here with me but I can't really see them yet. Ouhh and I am not that hungry at the moment. How things are going for you?"

" Wow that's great! Well things are pretty nice for me plus I already made friends with the kitchen staff downstairs and she promised to give me extra chicken for dinner. You can join me if you want and I will ask more chicken for you." she says excitingly.

"Great that's really nice of you, but I don't really eat dinner so maybe we can do it next time? No hard feelings ?" I say cautiously.

"Sure! It's nothing we can have dinner together next time" says Hailey.

We are talking for quite some time when Hailey's friend comes and asks her to help her out with things. Then I am once again left alone. While looking at the ceiling fan, I am greet by my gorgeous friend, Nina. Finally! Someone I have been dreading to see, what a relief.

"Hello girl! What are you up to?" "Hey Tania! Where were you? I have been searching for you the whole day!" me asking both Nina and Tania.

"Sorry sis, but after leaving my luggage here, I need to send my little bro to his new school just a few blocks away. My mom said the whole family should be there so my brother would feel appreciated on his first day in junior high."

"What a family person you are. Have you finished unpacking your stuff?" I ask her.

"No, not yet. i'll do it later. I just finished my meditation and I'll have a shower then get ready for our gathering tonight. Do you already know which class are you in?"

To be clear, all of the students that registered today will be heading to our respective classes and we will have a preparation night for tomorrow's first class.

"Yeah and Tania will be in the same class with me. Thank God. It scary to think that I know no one in that new class."

Tania is also one of the people I am familiar with as we are from the same high school previously. But actually we didn't even talk back in junior high so I hope things will flow smoothly and we will be friends until senior year ends.
