In the Kamika Agama, Uttara Pada, Mahotasava Vidhih, Verse 1 , Paramashiva says


utsavaṁ saṁpravakṣyāmi yathāvadanupūrvakam| dhvajārohovarohāntā kriyā utsava ucyate||

Now, I will explain the details of the festival, the subject-matter of which comes next in the order of chapters mentioned in the beginning. The activities which take place from the beginning of flag-hoisting to the lowering of the flag go by the collective name 'utsava'Dwajarohanam is a ritual which marks the start of the Bramhotsavam itself.


It is a very sacred rituals wherein the Dwaja (Flag) is hoisted on the Dwajastambha (Flag pole) during the sacred hour in alignment to the auspicious positions of the stars and planets.Once the Dwajarohanam happens all the Gods and Goddesses from all the 14 Lokas land very intensely and powerfully in the temple to celebrate the Bramhostavam.

Dhwajarohanam is the ritual which marks the start of the Bramhotsavam. It is a very sacred ritual where in the Dhwaja (Flag) is hoisted on the Dhwajastambha (Flag pole).

A special hour, or muhurtam is selected when the positions of the stars and planets are auspicious.


Once that happens, Rajarajeshwari along with all the Gods and Goddesses from all the 14 Lokas land very intensely and powerfully in the temple premises to celebrate the Bramhostavam.
