Self-Acceptance

Out of all the people I've ever met

There is one I am to love yet,

It is not you or any other,

It is not any sister or any brother,

She is my constant company,

Yet someone I can't accept whole-heartedly,

Can never sever my soul from it,

And yet she's someone I desire to omit,

She constantly changes every while,

For different people she gives a different smile,

And yet whenever she looks at me,

Disdain and disgust on her face is all I see,

To other people she gives her all,

Yet she constantly makes herself feel small,

When she remembers the bruises and scars on her skin,

She forgets her strength and starts crumbling,

She looks at the mirror and doesn't like what she sees,

For in the mirror, the girl staring back is me,

Someone who loves others with all her heart,

Yet cannot give herself a tiny part,

Out of all the people I've ever met,

There is one I am to love yet,

It is not you or anyone else,

It is no one but I, me, and myself.

You've reached the end of published parts.
