It was just an ordinary Tuesday. You and your friend, Rocky, had decided to drop by the grocery store to pick up a few things. Well, it was mainly you who needed things; Rocky just annoyed you to let them tag along.
(Also, ahaha, uh, that's a cameo. Rocky is me, the author. Epic, right? Anyways, anyways, back to the story.)
You strolled around the store, pushing your grocery cart, while Rocky fetched anything you needed.
You had quite a few things in your cart — not too much, and certainly not enough to have your cart considered full, but, you still had quite the collection. At this time, you had everything you needed to fetch right in your cart.
Well, almost everything... you were missing one thing.
You still needed to grab bread.
So, of course, you walked on over to the bread aisle(?) (sorry, uh, I haven't been to the grocery store in forever thanks to COVID. Do bread aisles exist in grocery stores? If they don't, oh well, they exist in this story) and grabbed two loaves of bread.
Your friend, Rocky, came running over to you moments after you had grabbed the bread, and right before you could drop it in your cart.
You turned around so that you could see them. Rocky looked and acted exhausted, as if they had just run a marathon.
"Sorry— I kind of got distracted, I saw some lady with Cookies n' Cream Poptarts. Very nice lady, by the way, she told me exactly where the Poptarys were, and I was able to get them with no trouble whatsoever!" Rocky grinned, shoving the Poptarts in your face as if you couldn't already see them before when they were just holding and looking down at them.
"That's fine—" you said, moving your head to get the Poptarts out of your face. Unfortunately, Rocky didn't get the hint and their hand, along with the box of Poptarts, just followed your head.
You sighed, turned back towards your grocery cart, and put the bread inside it.
"Hey, you should toast that bread!" Rocky shouted — the reason behind why they were shouting was unknown. You jumped, having almost forgotten that they were even there, and startled by the fact that they had just yelled with no warning whatsoever.
"Why is that?" you asked, pushing the cart forward, walking to the checkout station, not bothering to even try and make eye contact with Rocky.
"Have you even had toast?" They asked. You sighed, turned around to look at them, and shook your head 'no'.
"Toast is good, I bet you'd like it. Especially if you put the right, uh, stuff — stuff on top of them. You can put butter, jelly, syrup, um, and other stuff on it I guess, whatever you like. Or, you can have it plain. Plain is also pretty good, but, it's usually better with something on top. But, you do you; I'd suggest going with butter first, that's what I usually do. Butter is good. Butter on toast is good. But- but- you could put something else on it, I guess. Probably not jam or jelly, though... that's gross — well, actually, if you like jelly and, uh, or, jam go ahead. You do you. And—" Rocky rambled.
"Okay, okay— I'll try some." You groaned, cutting them off. Rocky smiled, satisfied, but then that smile faded.
"What are you going to put on it?" They asked.
"Uh- I don't know... butter, I guess? Since you apparently like butter on toast so much?" You answered, waving your hand dismissively.
Rocky nodded, and said, "cool!"
After that, Rocky was pretty quiet. There wasn't much to talk about while you checked out all of your groceries.
Once you had purchased everything and had it all bagged up, you walked out of the grocery store and walked over to your car.
