————————————————————————"[Y/N], come downstairs. It's time to leave for school," your mother called. You have been attending Horikoshi Middle School for the past few years, and this was your last year before joining a high school.
People all around the world have developed unique 'superpowers', formally called quirks. As one of the 80% who has manifested a quirk, you never thought of using it for daily life. Sure, your quirk, Placement, made some tasks easier, you never believed you would use it to help others.
After rushing down the old, creaky stairs, you grabbed a cereal bar and sprinted out the door, saying goodbye to your mother. You have never had the best relationship with your family. They strongly believe that heroism is bad, however they do not engage in any villainous behaviors. But this does mean you, and your 17 year old brother, have been shielded from heroic acts on the media.
After quickly walking to school, which was only five minutes away from your old-fashioned house, you find your friend, Imari Fukitame, who runs up to you.
"Hiiiii, [Y/N]-chan! Are you excited for today!" She said, in a fairly loud yet bubbly voice.
"Imari-chan, what are you talking about?" You say, with your unamused, [E/C] eyes.
"We are picking what secondary school we are going to! How did you forget?" Imari asks.
You never pay attention in class. Instead, you daydream, doodle, or read. Your grades manage to keep up due to the extra tutoring your parents put you and your brother through.
"He-looooow~" Imari waves her hand in front of your face. "Can you stop daydreaming for a second and listen to me!"
"I'm sorry Ima-chan!" Imari looks unimpressed, as this is a common occurrence. You don't blame yourself though, you can't help that your mind runs a million miles per hour.
"You know what, I'm going to make a deal with you. I pick what school you go to, and you do the same for me! We can switch places!" She says.
"Imari, are you dense? We look nothing alike! Our teachers will notice. Dumbass, tha-" I am cut off by Imari's fist in my stomach and she runs away. 'What the hell is her problem? She's lucky we are such good friends, or else I would've beaten her.' I go to sit down on the closest bench and catch my breath. As I reach to pull out my phone, I notice my backpack is... gone. Goddamnit, Imari. Sly bastard. She always pulls stunts like this. I suppose since she has advisory first period, there is no chance I'll be able to pick what school I go to. I just hope it is nothing to bad.
—————————/Time Skip/—————————
As I reach the cafeteria, I see a brunette with two space-buns. 'Imari...' I scurry over there, ready to hear whatever pathetic excuse she will use.
"Imari-" She cuts me off.
"[Y/N], please don't be mad, I'm doing what's best for you- eep!" I snatch the verification for the entered selection slip. My eyes widen as I read the text. 'Congrats, [Y/N] [L/N], you have submitted your entry for U.A. Secondary Academy. We hope to see you soon!'
I feel the heat rising to my face and my eyes fill with tears. My parents... my parents will be so upset. They will kick me out.
"Imari-" my voice cracks, "what the fuck? How could you do this to me? You know that my parents hate heroes!"
"Relax, [Y/N]. It's no big deal" she responds.
"No big deal? NO BIG DEAL? My parents will disown me! I'm so done with you!" I yell.
"Please relax" Imari coerced.
"No! I can normally put up with your bullshit, but not today! You don't understand what my parents will do to me! You are pure evil, Imari. Do not talk to me, ever again" I say, with tears streaming down my face.
I turn on my heel, grabbing my backpack, and leave school for the day. I can hear Imari call after me, but I pay no mind. The panic sets it, and I hear ringing in my ear. 'I need to hide this from my parents.' If they find out, I am screwed. They will not hesitate to kick me out.
As I walk through a park, I sit down on a black iron bench. The cold surface shocks my senses, and I stare up at the sun. 'Maybe... I can just run away. That would be easy. But I can't take the easy way out.' I decide to keep it a secret for now.
Tears now flowing down my flushed face, I lay my head in my hands and breathe slowly. To my surprise, my phone begins ringing. The name 'Kouki' illuminates my face. I hesitantly answer the phone and simultaneously clear my throat.
"Hey, Kouki" I say with a quivering voice.
"Wow, no Onii-chan? I'm hurt." He chuckles. "Okay, on a serious note, what's up? You sound upset."
"I am upset, Kouki. But I can't say it over the phone. when you walk home from school, please meet me at Hinode Park. And don't tell Mother or Father, please."
Taking note of my serious tone, he agrees. I click the phone down and sigh. I can't be kicked out of my house. I can't do anything. I should give up.
