Chapter 1:

Do you ever remember the times when you use to play in your back yard as a kid. Or the times when you had family reunions on holidays. Do you remember the great laughs of a Sunday family dinner. Do you remember your first scab or cut. The first time you visited the ER. Well I don't, I don't remember anything.

I am 16 years old and I don't remember one thing about my past. I don't remember my best friend in elementary or if I had any friends. I don't remember my Mother and Father. I don't remember any family members. The only thing I do know about my past was that my name was Jake and the only reason I knew that was because of the bracelet I had on when the cops found me.

That day when I woke up in the hospital was my first memory. Clearly I had been shot and found in a ally way. I was unconscious for 3 days for the lack of blood I lost. The doctors said I was lucky cause the bullet just grazed my skin and didn't actually go in. I would have been fine but since the cops didn't find me till after I lost so much blood I had to be hospitalized. I had spent a month in the hospital but no one I know visited me.

The only people that did visit me were the people from the agencies. The doctors said that one day I will get my memory back but I am still waiting for that day. After the week I spent in the hospital I was taken to an orphanage. I didn't really speak much only short answers.

It took 3 months of families visiting me trying to get me to talk to adopt me. It wasn't till the Fell family that I opened up. I don't know why I choose them to open up to but it was like something inside me told me I could trust them. So when I spoke my very first sentence everyone was surprised. My social worker didn't know how to respond but surprisingly Mr. Fell and Mrs. Fell did. They just went on as normal and next thing I knew I was being taken into their home.

The Fell consisted of Mr. Fell and Mrs. Fell and their daughter Jane. Jane was a year older then me. Surprisingly she always wanted a younger brother so when I walk through that door for the first time I was tackled by a screaming happy Jane. Jane from that moment has always played that big sister role with me even though I wasn't her biological brother.

She has always protected me from bullies. Took me everywhere she went. Made sure I was always happy and whenever I was hurt she made sure I always felt better. Mr. Fell and Mrs. Fell were great as well off the back they started to treat me like their son. They got me enrolled into a new school with Jane of course. I got my own room that they personally decorated for me. Basically life with my adoptive family was great and I love them for it. So far I spent a great 4 years with them. They adopted me when I was 12 years old.

I started to feel like one of the family after my first year with them. That's when I realized that they weren't going to leave me and I can trust them. That was also the year I started to call Mr. Fell and Mrs.Fell mom and dad. The look on their face when I walked down the stairs to the kitchen and called them mom and dad for the first time was priceless. You could see so much joy and happiness in their eyes. I remember Mom just so happy that she ran to me and hugged me so tight that I thought she would never let me go.

From that moment on I truly felt like Jake Fell. Life from then on was good and normal. Even though I never recovered my memories of my past I didn't really care. I was happy with my life now why worry over something that doesn't truly matter.

So now I just plan to enjoy my summer before my sophomore year of high school starts in the fall. This year should be interesting my family and I are moving to a new town called Broken City. I know a weird name for a city but its quite nice. Well I guess from all that I read up on it from the Internet. We are moving cause mom and dad got transferred there from their jobs.

Dad says that it's the best thing that has happened to them other then having me and Jane of course. Clearly they are getting a raise and because of that we could afford a better house then the apartment we live in now. Dad and mom always wanted that American dream you know the one with two perfect kids and that nice house with the white picket fence. Well now with the move and new raise in their pay they can have it.

Sure me and Jane are a little sad that we have to leave our friends behind but we can always keep in contact with them plus it would be great to see mom and dad happy. They given me and Jane so much making sure we had a great life. Also me and Jane love adventures so hopefully with this move we can have a great new one.
