Prologue

The night was dark, and the stars twinkled in the sky like little diamonds. The air was cold, and Yibo's son, Xiaojun, snuggled under his warm blankets, his eyes shining with anticipation.

"Papa, can you tell me a story?" Xiaojun asked, his voice soft and sleepy.

Yibo smiled down at his son, feeling a rush of love wash over him. "Of course, my little one. What kind of story would you like to hear?"

"A scary story!" Xiaojun exclaimed, his eyes widening with excitement.

Yibo chuckled, shaking his head. "Are you sure you want to hear a scary story, Xiaojun? They can be quite frightening."

But Xiaojun was insistent, and so Yibo began to tell him a tale of a haunted house deep in the woods. He spoke of ghostly apparitions and creaking floorboards, of eerie whispers and mysterious shadows.

As he spun his tale, Yibo watched as Xiaojun's eyes grew wide with fear. But he also saw a glimmer of fascination shining through, and he knew that his son was enjoying the story despite his fright.

Finally, Yibo brought the story to a close, and Xiaojun let out a sigh of relief. "That was so scary, Papa!" he exclaimed, his voice trembling slightly.

But then he looked up at his father, his eyes shining with curiosity. "Do you think ghosts are real, Papa?"

Yibo hesitated for a moment, not wanting to frighten his son any further. But he knew that honesty was always the best policy.

"Well, some people believe in ghosts, Xiaojun," he said carefully. "But there's no way to say for sure whether they're real or not. It's up to each person to decide for themselves."

Xiaojun nodded thoughtfully, his mind buzzing with questions and wonder. Yibo smiled down at him, feeling a rush of love and pride.

As he tucked his son in for the night, Yibo knew that he would always be there for Xiaojun, to answer his questions and guide him through life's ups and downs. And he knew that no matter what challenges they may face, they would always face them together, with love and courage in their hearts.
