~ Chapter 4: Healing ~
"Hey, Cora. You doin' okay? You were really great yesterday. You won't be seeing Paul for a while." Jordan grimaced. "You were out for a while, I was worried about you."
"Wha-what happened? What about Paul?" I vaguely remember the incident with Paul yesterday. There was something about that rusty, old butter knife that chilled me to the core, giving me goose bumps on all of my exposed skin.
"Cora. You broke Paul's hand, and he... He cut you with his knife. You have to see this Cora, it's amazing." Jordan exclaimed. He slowly lifted up my shirt, exposing my back to the dim light of the room, making sure to not touch where I was hurt. "Cora, I don't want to hurt you. But can I try something?"
"I trust you, Jordan. I trust you with my life. You're my best friend. My only friend. Do whatever you want." I smiled. It's rare that I ever smile. The only times I ever do is when I'm with Jordan.
"You're my best friend too, Cora. You always will be." he smiled. "But let me know if this hurts." Jordan touched his warm, delicate fingers against my back. Right where Paul used his butter knife on me. The sensation sent warm, shockwaves throughout my entire body, making the hairs on my arms, legs and neck stick up. He was careful to not put pressure on the area, but to just lightly brush against it. "How does that feel?"
"It doesn't hurt at all!"v I exclaimed. How is this possible? I almost died. There would at least be a scar. It isn't possible for a wound like that to heal so quickly. Especially to leave no scar. I do remember what Jordan said about Amanda. Maybe there is something supernatural about this place... This is definitely not possible. But something moreover
has to happen. Something to really make me believe.
"It's almost like you never had the wound. But I heard it. I heard everything, Cora. That wasn't a dream. I told you, something isn't right here. This just isn't possible. I know you don't believe me, but I believe in what Amanda says. At least for the most part. Cora we need to get out of here. I can't take this anymore. You're going to have your baby soon. Do you really want to raise a child in this place?" Jordan sighed.
"No, I guess not... But how do you expect to get out of here? Do you honestly think you can escape? Let's be rational here. Okay, suppose we are in Hell. The hooded men are demons, and then there are the... What are they called, servants of Satan? Whatever. And then there's Satan. Mr. Badass. So, he's the big boss. If we're in Hell, why haven't we seen this guy?" I asked.
"Well, Cora I told you everything I know. I wish I knew where we are, who these people are, how we got here and why we're here. I know the hooded men, or demons won't tell us. Our only chance of figuring it all out is escaping. So are you with me or not? I won't leave with out you." Jordan stared deeply into my eyes, full of concern and a hint of hope. Another rare thing to see in anyone.
"Yes, Jordan. I think we can do it. Like I said, I trust you. And if you trust Amanda, then I trust her too. Let's get the hell out of here." I said.
