Tw //  death(skip to next chapter if your not comfortable with  death)

Title name is based off of "Happier" by P!ATD

George was sitting on my couch, watching tv, waiting for Clay to arrive. Everything was going great. Until he noticed his phone make a noise, indicating he got a text message. He got excited assuming it was Clay. He picks up the phone and turns it on. Seeing his background, having a picture of him and Clay holding hands. He unlocked my phone and opened his messaging app.

It was from his mother instead of Clay.

Usually his mother calls him to talk to him, she rarely texts. He opened the text to receive a paragraph from his father on his mothers phone saying she passed away. Saying how sorry she is for treating him like he didn't exist while growing up, even though she had her priority on him since George was an only child.

As he kept reading the text message over and over again, more and more tears dripped down from his eyes. He thought everything was over. Tears dripped down his cheeks as he began crying. The text message included how his mother died. She was in the hospital with severe lung damage. She was a smoker, a really bad smoker. The hospital tried everything they could from preventing her death. But her heart quit beating at 10:37 am yesterday.

-time skip 10 minutes later because i'm lazy, and i thought that just him crying would be boring-

George was still crying due to his mothers death. He cared about her so much, why did it have to be me? Was I good enough? Did I cause her death? I should have stopped her when I was younger, but I was too stupid to realize. Those thoughts ran through his mind. Then he receives another text message from Clay, saying he arrived at his house.

Clay <3: Im at your house, I can just walk in, right?

George: i dont care

Clay <3: yo you doing alright?

George: sure i guess

Clay <3: im coming in...

Clay could feel something wrong, but couldn't sense what. He let himself in only to find George curled up on the couch, still sad about his mothers death. Clay approached George quickly as he saw Georges old, dried tears from earlier. Clay gave George a big hug as George began to tear up again, this time it was on Clay's shoulder. George's tears began sinking into Clay's shoulder. After a few minutes Clay asked George what was wrong. George opened his phone and showed Clay the text message from his father. As Clay began reading it he noticed George tearing up a little bit more.

Mother :]: Hello George, this is your father. I am so sorry to inform you that your mother passed away yesterday at 10:37 in the morning. She was sent to the hospital because that woman couldn't stop smoking. Doctors tried everything they could to save her, but it was no use. I am so sorry about this. She left you a note if you want, you can pick it up whenever you want. We will get through this. Love you son 🤍

Clay finished reading the text message and noticed George cuddled up in Clay's arms. "I..I don't know what to say, George. I..I'm so sorry this happened. Remember I'm always here for you if you need it. I can stay at your house as long as you want, if you want me to of course. Don't think of the negative, think of the positive of this. Remember that I love you and will always love you forever baby". Clay kissed George on the cheek and on his forehead. "Fall asleep in my arms Georgie. You'll need it". George moved his head more into Clay's chest. It hurt him a little but he didn't care. As long as George was satisfied, Clay was too. "I love you too baby" George said right before falling asleep. Clay fell asleep a few minutes later.
