The day you first found her shoes, you met her. It was cloudy, the sky full of gray and damp fog. The first task of the Triwizard Tournament was that day. One of your good friends , Harry Potter,  was competing in the tournament, although unwillingly. She was standing idly by the Black Lake, her blonde hair down her back in waves, standing out against her dark Ravenclaw robes.

The tentacles of the giant squid were frolicking near the surface, churning up beautiful patterns of waves and lake spray. You had been there to shake of the nerves because Harry was competing, so you had been disgruntled to find the squid acting like a menace. Your sigh drew her attention, perhaps. When she smiled at you, it was a dazed smile, as though she wasn't quite sure you were there. But her clear, bright eyes landed on you with surprising focus.

"Would you like help?" she asked, friendly. Her voice was gentle, soothing, the voice your mother had when she was singing a lullaby to your brother and you before bedtime, but that was when she cared . You were taken aback. "I didn't even say anything." "It's obvious, isn't it?" Her tone was dreamy. "Don't worry. It's a good day." You had no idea what she meant, but she was already walking towards the lake.

Her feet, you noticed, left bare footprints in the sand. She wasn't wearing shoes. A loud splash caused you to look up sharply, but she was fine, her wand pointing at the water. Trails of blue sparks flew from it, skipping across the surface. You watched as large water bubbles unfurled from the surface, mirroring the way the tentacles were dancing, catching and reflecting the light. She almost seemed to be some ethereal fairy, surrounded by such beautiful and magical elements, shining in bedazzled light around her.

But then she had stoppered the water, and the sparks had disappeared. She was walking back towards you, her serene smile still on her face. But this time, you noticed the gentle light in her eyes, as blue as the sparks from her wand. "Here you go," she said, handing you the vial. She turned back towards the lake. "I was here to visit them, you know. They get lonely sometimes." "The squid?" you asked, surprised. She hummed. "It's understandable. It must be awfully cold down there." She blinked, then turned to you.

"Let's walk back. They're busy painting." She might have been talking about the great squid. You weren't sure. But when she started heading back towards the castle, you found yourself following her. It was easy to do so; her hair shone as bright as midnight snow in the fog. "Aren't your feet cold?" you asked, for some reason, when you were almost at the door.

"Oh, yes," she said, but she still had the same dreamy, thoughtful tone. "But it's quite alright. I lose my shoes often." You were quite flabbergasted, but you didn't have time to ask before she turned to you and smiled, eyes bright and kind. "Don't let the Nargles bite," she said cheerfully, before she walked to the great hall for breakfast, humming.

That day, after the first task, you found a pair of shoes while walking back to your common room, discarded as though they weren't needed. You had stared at them for a moment, puzzled, before you ended up taking them with you, because today wasn't strange enough already.

A/N - I honestly feel so inspired to write a beautiful masterpiece for 5 minutes, then I get bored. Tell me I'm not the only one. Anyways,I hope I don't bore you with this first chapter. Please tell me what you think. Love you guys!
