Daughter of the Moon
Chapter 2: A lullaby for the city
Being created, to protect the moon and then being sacrificed. That scared Princess Elara a little but luckily, there were still a lot of time left, before it was her time.
Elara was sitting in her room, as the rules said.
''Nr. 5. You can only be in your room, be on the throne or be outside in the garden, at day time.''
That was a little hard but, it were better than sitting on your throne the hole day. Elara was writing, in her note book. She noted every flower she could see, outside the garden.
A knock came on her door ''Yes? Come in?'' a maid came into the room, her name was Lillian. The maid stepped in ''Princess Elara. May I clean your room?'' she were wearing a maid outfit just in black and purple, instead of black and white.
''Of course, dear Lillian. I will be leaving then'' Elara laid her book on the window frame, jumped down and walked out of the room.
Before she left completely she said ''Just clean the room as good as you can, alright?'' She then continued walking.
Elara loved to see the city, form her balcony. The city looked so happy. She wished one day, she had the courage to walk between them, just like a normal human. Elara thought it was unfair sometimes but it didn't bother that much now.
She sighed. Elara wanted to sing her lullaby's but couldn't before it was dark.
''Princess Elara.'' Elara turned around and saw one of her guards, standing in the door opening to the balcony. ''You have a visitor'' the guard turned to the side. Elara started to walk back inside.
Elara sat on the throne. The doors got opened and 2 guards from the Sun palace came in. The guard kneeled and said ''It's and honor to meet you, Princess Elara.'' they stood up. ''We're here to report from the Sun palace'' the guards was sweating a little, it must have been a long ride. ''Is it important? Or can it wait?'' the guards looked at each other confusing. ''Well It's just the time for when you have to rise the moon.'' I nod.
Elara double clapped and 2 guards came, beside the 2 guards from the Sun palace.
''Be nice and take them to the hot spring, It looks like they had a long journey here.'' the guards nod. ''Guards of the Sun palace. I am happy you two got send here. So please, accept this gift. A hot bath in the hot spring,''
The two guards from the Sun palace, followed the Moon guards to the hot spring.
Elara sighed. Being the Daughter of the Moon weren't easy. But eventually she'd get used to it.
Elara stood up. ''Elfman, Luca,'' two guards stood in front of the throne. ''When the guards from the Sun palace are done. Ask them about when the moon shall rise. Then go directly to me and let me know.''
''Yes Ma'am!'' the guards walked to the door, where the guards from the Sun palace was shown to.
''And the rest of you! Please!.. Drink a cup of tea, talk with each other or take a break, before the Moon have to rise.''
''Yes ma'am!'' the guards started to walk with each other, some walked outside to the garden, some sat down and had a break from standing and some, took a little of their armor off.
Elara smiled. If she was the ruler anyway, she could at least be nice to her guards.
Elara started to walk outside to the balcony again. The sun we're about to go down, so soon she finally could sing her lullaby. Elara's thoughts got interrupted by one of her guards, knocking softly on the door to the balcony. ''Sorry Princess for the interruption! But may I please pick a few flowers from the garden?'' Elara looked at the guard, the wind blew her hair beautifully.
''Sure my dear guard, take as many as you want.'' Elara smiled. The guard bowed and walked the other direction of the balcony.
Another guard came, it was Elfman. ''Princess Elara. The information about the Moon rising is complete. From here on, about two hours.'' Elara smiled. ''Thank you dear guard Elfman. Please, Do me a favor and get ready for the moon, rising about an hour and a half.''
''Shall do my Princess!'' the guard turned and walked the other direction of the balcony.
Elara closed her eyes. Finally soon the moon could rise and Elara could go around in the city singing her lullaby. She have waited for this moment for years. Since she got created, no one could sing the city to sleep or take the moon up, without things gone wrong. Elara sighed relief. Finally the city could sleep peacefully while Elara watched over them at night.
The time came finally after 2 hours. The balcony door got closed, if it weren't, the people inside the palace would fall sleep as well.
Elara opened the button, that kept her cape together over her shoulders. The cape landed on the balcony while as two giant glittery purple wings spread out of her back. Elara took the pony tail out of her hair, so her long purple/blue hair laid softly on her shoulders.
Elara walked closer to the balcony. She inhaled and exhaled. When she opened her mouth. The most beautiful lullaby came. While she sang, the moon started to rise. The moon shined on Elara, the wind blew her clothes, hair and wings, like if the world wanted her to be pretty.
Elara flapped her wings, so she flew up to the sky. As she sang the last part of her lullaby, she flew down to the city. The night we're beautiful. The moon shined on her while she flew. The wind blew her hair, It was almost like a fantasy.
Elara landed at the square of the city slowly, as she finished the lullaby.
The city were big and pretty. Elara took some step to the fountain in the middle. She took her hand and touched the water. It felt nice and cold.
She exhaled and took her hands together. A light purple fog slowly flew out of her hands. It flew around the city.
Elara spread her wings. She inhaled and exhaled. She sang another lullaby. Not the same as when she raised the moon.
Her voice we're beautiful in the night. Her voice could be heard in the hole city, from the square.
Elara started to walk between the houses while she sang. She wanted to see the city. The hole city! But as the lullaby was about to end. She had to get back to her palace.
Her wings flapped once and the light purple fog, slowly disappeared.
She now looked at the city sleeping peacefully. It was time for her to head home. Her work here was done for the night.
