Y/n yawned heavily while stretching out her stiff body on the chair she was seated on. Another sleepless night had just come to an end. A new day was about to begin. She stood up while picking up the paper bundle full of her scribbles, each and every one essential to create words and sentences that would mediate the specific field of knowledge for a specific child. Y/n's mouth edges raised slightly as looked down at all of the pages.

This should be enough for now.

The girl closed the library door behind her. While ambling through the corridor that led to the childrens' bedroom, her body felt like it was made out of lead. Usually, the girl was immensely cautious when it came to moving around the house during the hour where everyone would be in Morpheus armful, deep down in the land of dreams. But today was different. Y/n almost dragged her feet behind her, making the floor creak with every step she took.

Halfway to the destination she abruptly paused her pace and while leaning on the wall to her left she supported her body weight for a while before continuing down the corridor. After a quick stop at the bedroom where Y/n dropped off the work she was bringing from the library as well as trying her best not to wake any of her siblings up, she retreated to the nearest bathroom.

After securing the door she turned on the tap that poured out fresh water.

Or was it fresh?

Carefully, Y/n brought her hands up to the stream and watched as the liquid filled the bowl she made of her fingers before washing her cheeks slightly. A way of rubbing off the tiredness. The girl then brought her face close to the mirror in front of her and sighed as she saw the sight in it. Her skin looked as if all the colors it consisted of were now long gone. Maybe not all colors, namely the areas directly below her eyes. Those looked as if somebody rubbed off coal on her, or as if she was a stiff doll and a child tried to paint her eyes with dark-colored crayons.

"I really do look worse than death itself." Y/n quietly muttered under her breath and reached out for a towel, as she heard the first kids talk in the room behind the wall.

Y/n glanced at her reflection in the mirror one last time and put on a smile before heading out of the bathroom.

"Good morning everyone, I hope-"

"Y/n we need to talk."

The mentioned girl looked at Emma, who was standing with a sloppy posture having her orbs slightly wander around on Y/n's face.

"Emma-" Y/n started but as Emma reached out her arms and pulled the girl into a hug she discontinued her sentence.

"We will talk after breakfast okay?" Emma smiled sadly.

Y/n nodded into the girl's shoulder.

...

"Where are Ray and Norman, I thought we would talk about the escape plan?" Y/n uttered sounding nothing but uncertain.

"Oh they are washing the dishe- No, Y/n! Get your ass down." Emma thundered when she saw her best friend jumping to her feet.

Y/n sat down, once again, under the tree where Ray could usually be found reading. The girl was now picking the grass with her fingers while looking anywhere but at the orange-haired.

"You have not been sleeping lately!" Emma exclaimed and with that action startling Y/n.

"Wha- What do you mean I haven't been sleeping? I have slept every night."

"Really? Your eyes tell me otherwise."

"Emma look, I have been sleeping." Y/n shut her eyes tightly . "But... not that well."
