My Depression Poem

A shadow of my simple past

The pain I wish would cease to last

The happy girl you knew is gone

For the world's poison I was drawn

Once I was the happy girl around Till I heard the world's shrill sound

All I knew was the love of life

Now I understand sorrow and strife

There's no stopping this sharp blade

That I could never against my skin,                       Forbade

  The darkness forever in memory

The pain I now define as me
