Olimar was looking out at the sunset. He crashed on a strange planet and thinks he might never get to go home. He starts to think about his family... his son, daughter, and wife. He wonders what would happen to him if he could never go back home. He closes his eyes in deep thought. The pikmin look at him from the grass. In turn, they squeak to each other, nodding, then turn towards Olimar. They wait for him to move or call them to his side, but he just sits there in a trance.

About an hour or so passes and Olimar watched as the sun went down and the moon came up. The pikmin still waited. They squeaked to each other again, then quietly disappeared into the grass. They came back moments later with a glowing blue daisy in their hands. They slowly make their way to Olimar. He turned to see what was glowing behind him. He looked at the pikmin with curiosity. The pikmin held the flower up to him. He hesitated, but took it. When he took it from the pikmin, they started to squeak happily! He smiled at them and the pikmin went to him. They laid on him and against him. Olimar looked shocked that the pikmin would be so open to him. After a while, he stood up then whistled them in. They all got in their Onions and Olimar returned to his ship.

Captain's Log

The pikmin are showing me uttermost kindness. They have given me a gift which I will never get rid of. More and more they put their trust into me. I sometimes think that I will never see my family again. But I then look at them with faith and hope! They risk themselves for me. I know with their help I will return home and see my family again! With the glow of this flower, I will find the remaining ship parts and even if I shall leave, I will never forget about the pikmin.
