To be with you - A Yuzu Koyama x Reader Story

Chapter I - The Flash from the Past

---Flashback---
After Ooarai Girls Academy, with the help of the other schools, defeated the All-Stars University Team, the Ooarai Tankery Team held a social gathering to celebrate. 

"Umm... well, we want to thank you for all your efforts. It is because of all of you that we managed to protect our school with the support of the other academies.", Momo said with her usual tone as she continued on. 

"Momo, you are speaking too long.", Yuzu said with a whispering tone. 

"Well... President, your words please.", said Momo to Anzu.  

"Well! Isn't it glad that our school didn't close down?", said Anzu to the Tankery teams as she stood in the podium in her usual cheerful tone. 

As soon as she ended her rather short remark, the tankery teams cheered and shouted with joy.

"Well then, let us make a toast for our victory! Cheers!", said Anzu cheerfully as she raised her glass. Everyone cheered and raised their glasses in unison. 

"Now, before we move on to this night's activities, I have a special announcement to make.", said Anzu with her calm tone, with everyone paying attention. 

"We have a new team for our school!", Anzu happily continued. 

Everyone was amused with some even surprised and excited regarding the new team. 

"Wait, really?", Miho asked with a surprised tone.

"Yep! In fact, they were formed right after our victory against the All-Stars.", Anzu replied. 

"Well, allow me to introduce to you all, our new team! You may enter!", Anzu spoke out. Yuzu, Momo and Anzu then walked out the stage and watched from the side. 

After they left the stage, a group of 5 men walked towards the front, with everyone's eyes on them. Everyone was amazed as they saw them being greeted one by one by Anzu as she walked to them. 

Among the onlookers was Yuzu, who saw with amazement alongside everyone else. However, it wasn't until she saw the commander of the team when she saw a familiar sight and looked with interest. 

"Huh... interesting.", said Yuzu calmly as she saw the commander wearing a M43 Field Cap and binoculars with the Ooarai Tankery Uniform. 

Yuzu started chuckling to herself after seeing such a sight until she found herself looking at the commander intently. 

(Yuzu in her head) "Heh, how cute..."

The commander, with the corner of his eye, noticed Yuzu looking at him and made eye contact with her for almost 5 seconds. After those 5 seconds, the commander gave Yuzu a light smile. 

Upon seeing his smile, she bashfully looked away, with a growing blush forming on her face. 

Momo notices Yuzu's expression, knowing what she did. Leaning to her right, Momo teasingly whispered, "Interested in someone now, huh?".

"A-Ah... n-no...", Yuzu quickly responded while trying to hide her blush as Momo softly chuckled due to her response. 

Without her knowing, the commander was just watching Yuzu from a distance, chuckling lightly. 

---Timeskip---

"Alright, let us take this time to go around and getting to know our new team!", Anzu cheerfully spoke out. The Anglerfish Team and the other tankery teams went around, talking to the 5 men of the new team. The interactions with the new team took most of the time but was without a doubt, the most enjoyable for all the tankery teams. Yuzu had dissapeared and was nowhere to be seen. 

While everyone was mingling and having fun, Yuzu was sitting down at a bench outside the gym where the party was being held and overlooking the ocean. Yuzu was still embarassed at what she did a while ago. 

"*sighs* That guy... he will think wrong of me after what I did...", Yuzu said in a silent but worried tone to herself. 

While Yuzu was just watching the view, little did she know was that the commander was watching her from afar, smiling lightly. 

Mustering his courage, he walked towards her. Yuzu heard footsteps and looked behind her and saw the commander. Yuzu and the commander made eye contact for a short time before he said:

"So... you must be the girl that was intently looking at me...", said the commander in a calm tone, with a light smile. 

"Y-Yeah... that's me...", Yuzu nervously responded, hiding her blush. 

The commander chuckled lightly and walked towards her. The commander sat beside her and calmly said:

"Well, I saw your reaction back there.", he said

"A-Ah... You s-saw that...?", Yuzu nervously asked.

The commander chuckled and replied, "Yeah, I did. You were pretty adorable back there.", blushing when he realized what he said.

Yuzu was speechless and blushed heavily at what he said, while lifting her hand up to her head to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear. Both fell silent, giving a shy and light smile at each other while they looked away from each other. 

Despite the awkward meeting they had, Yuzu and the commander had ended up enjoying each others company and chatting with each other for a long time. 

---Timeskip---

"Hahaha! Did that really happen?", the commander asked joyfully

"Yeah! It did! It was a funny moment that time!", Yuzu joyfully replied, genuinely enjoying her time with him. 

When the party was over and everyone started to leave for their homes, the commander and Yuzu stood up and smiled at each other. 

"So... I guess we have to head home now..." the commander said with a calm voice and smiled

"That was a nice conversation we had.", the commander continued. 

"Yes... it was.", Yuzu replied with a smile and a blush on her face.

A short silence fell upon the two until Yuzu nervously asked, "Hey... m-may I ask your n-name?", while slightly fidgeting her fingers and looking down with a blush. 

The commander extended his hand to her and calmly said with a smile, "James. My name is James. How about your name?"

"Yuzu. My name is Yuzu Koyama. The Vice President of Ooarai's Student Council.", Yuzu calmly replied while shaking his hand gently, with a light blush covering her face.

When the others had to leave since the school grounds were closing, they said their goodbyes and parted ways. 

---End of Flashback--- (Present day)

"That was the day, huh...", Yuzu said to herself as she sat quietly on the bench where she first met James. 

"One day... I will confess my love to you.", Yuzu calmly said with a blush, overlooking the ocean and feeling the breeze, hoping the best for James and herself.
