My English Exam is tomorrow, so I wanted to practice writing descriptive writing:)
I opened up my photo album, to the picture of a house by the lake. I remembered going there on a holiday with my parents, a while ago, last March. The place is beautiful and has a little cottage in Malaysia that we stayed in. It had colourful flowers with little dots surrounding it, Mother told me they were orchids. They smelt sweet in the morniny air. Pink water lilies could be seen emerging from the tiny lily pads in the pond nearby.
Back then, I was sitting on a swing - alone - before a beautiful, blacked haired girl with a smile that touches her ears came skipping to me. She had big, brown eyes that resembles a doll and her name was Sophie. She introduced herself to me as she danced around the swings in her pink bunny flip flops that looked soft. I found out we both came from Singapore but she had a complete different personality.
We chased each other and played hide and seek in the purple flowers with vines curling around poles. There were an abundance of them and Sophie proudly told me they were called Morning Glories.
I recalled hiding behind a wall of them while Sophie tried to find me. The pretty white laces at the hem of her pastel-dotted orange dress touches the bright green grass when she bents down in hopes of finding me in a gap.
She laughed at my failed attempts in hiding whenever she found me. She knew the place so well and at one point of time, she made us pretty tiaras from the leaves of a huge tree which was at least four times my height.
We went back in age, playing as seven-year-olds when we were two times of seven. At one point, Sophie taught me how to catch tadpoles from the pond, getting her dress wet and dirty with mud covered on it. She ended up falling and decided to take a swim. I was, however, more careful not to dirty anything and only risked getting wet up to my knees. The water was cold, as well and I did not was to get sick.
After that, I showed Sophie the cottage I stayed in and she explained that the cottage resort was the place she goes for holiday every year. I laughed when she showed me the hibiscus at the cottage she was at. They were beautiful with golden pollen at the tip and I found it amazing they came in different colours.
Sadly, all good things do come to an end but before leaving the place, Sophie and I went to town and we bought similar dresses that had a big ribbon right in the middle of it. The dress was blue in colour with the sleeves in white. The bottom left of the dress had a picture of a cottage, similar to the one we stayed in.
I closed the picture album, smiling to myself as I remembered of the good times Sophie and I had. I am glad to have met her and is still keeping in touch with her.
Wish me luck for my exam lovelies and I hope you enjoyed this. I plan to write more of this in the future.
