▬I spend most of the pre-match practice looking through social media and texting student council group chats. Some students started to enter the same area as me. I lifted my head and saw that other students started to sit in the surrounding chairs. Sitting forward I could see that the practice match was starting and Atsumu was tossed the ball as he walked out of court.
I get up from my seat to watch him and stand next to three girls all wearing the school uniform. I lean on the railing and one of them gives me a look, probably from my baggy clothing style compared to them. "Who invited a homeless person to the school?" I heard them snicker and hug my arms, why can't they just accept that I like hoodies? I heard them all giggling, but not from me.
I looked back to the court and there Atsumu was waving to me, a massive smile on his face. I swear that smile is contagious because I feel my cheeks move upwards. The girls next to me were all giggling about how "Atsumu was looking at them", if only they knew he was looking for my reaction.
My chin rests in my hand as Atsumu bounces the ball a few times and deep breathes. My eyes glance around the court; there are Osamu and Aran, Suna, and a guy with pretty light hair. The twins were going to have to introduce me to their other teammates later. The whistle blew and obviously, these girls didn't know how to shut up, so I would have to.
"Hey, Tu-chan likes it quiet when he serves..." I try to seem nice but obviously, they don't get the message. The two girls farthest from me continue to "cheer" for him while the other just gives me sass.
"Tu-chan? Oh right, Atsumu-Kun, of course." She exaggerated her movements while I kept my gaze on Atsumu who had just jumped. The two other girls continued to cheer as he hit it, the serve seemed like a pretty decent one to all four of us, but to him, it seemed to only be "okay".
At least he got the first service ace. I just nod to the girl and watch Atsumu look back up at us. Even though this was just a practice game he was as scary as ever and didn't want distractions. He looked up to the two and gave them death stares, but when I returned one he softened up.
I kept my gaze away from the girl, on the outside I seemed really cool and hell yeah I was, but internally I was really freaking out. She let out a sigh before speaking again, "Whatever, anyway, I'm Tamaki Yui. Sorry for being a brat, I thought he didn't hang with any girls."
"Oh, nice to meet you?"
"Mhm! And what's your name?"
"L/N F/N, I'm my class's representative and student secretary." I watched my friend get a few more service aces before an actual rally started.
"Oh! That must be so cool!"
"Mmhm." I felt uneasy with this girl, was she genuinely trying to be nice? Or was she going to use me? It didn't matter, I would probably forget her after this. I watched the twins get a kill and immediately celebrate. "Nice kill, Osamu!" I shout out with a big smile and he returns it. I'm lucky, I'm one of the few people he'll smile at, the other I know of being Atsumu.
I watch Inarazaki serve again and get another rally going. This time, Atsumu set the ball to Suna. Why'd he set to Suna? There are three blockers there! I watched as the dark-haired boy turned his torso to the side in mid-air. My eyes must have widened because Osamu and Atsumu started laughing after looking at me. Aran slapped both their backs as if scolding them for me.
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬The match went on for a bit more, and the girl, who had told you to call her whatever you wanted, tried to fit some small talk in. It was match point now, Inarazaki had taken the lead but had lost the chance to serve. I stood up straight and puffed out my sweatshirt, I should take my leave soon to meet up with the twins. While slowly walking I heard Tamaki question me like we were old friends, "Hey L/N-chan, where are you going? The game's not over?"
