Translucent as ever, it hung above Cana, always present, night after night. It was so still, as if painted on a hazy black canvas along with the stars scattered across, as if something like that was too beautiful to be in existence…
Nothing could compare to it, not the raging sun during the day with its inaudible brightness somehow still being a noise. It was like a calm river. silent, peaceful. It could put you in a trance if you stared too long. It was soothing, especially on nights like this when Cana needed it.
The earth could be overturned in it's orbit and the world in pandemonium, but the moon was up there and all would be well.Murmurs rang along the valley
Like the banshee's lonely croon
And a thousand pikes were flashing
At the rise of the moonShe was sprawled across the grass, finally letting her eyes drift close. That song was all she had of the moon as a child; her mother would sing it to her every night before bed, tell her of it's beauty and purpose.
"The moon is solace, Cana love. trouble will come and fear will take root but the moon will lead you home."Back then, she'd never layed eyes on the ethereal planetary body up there. "Night time is not safe, my love." But she knew what it was. She knew it's greatness and how deeply it was rooted in her existence.
