Freya's POV
New Orleans
2019"Freya."
I could hear a voice calling out my name, it felt very far away. I tried to find where it was coming from.
"Freya?" A voice closer to me said, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Elijah checking on me because I had spaced out from the conversation "No! Don't touch me!" I shouted confusing my remaining siblings and Hayley.
I mentally dove back in to the magical plane searching for that voice but there was nothing.
"That was so weird." I said coming back to reality.
"What happened?" Klaus asked.
"I could hear someone - a witch - calling out to me but then I couldn't find where it was coming from. It felt so far away."
"The twins?" Hayley questioned. "Yeah, I presume Kol compelled a witch from wherever they are."
"Well check again." Klaus ordered.
"There's nothing there - the connection's too weak. They must be in Fiji or Russia or Antarctica or somewhere else very far away."
"Magic has problems travelling around the world?" Hayley questioned not knowing much about it. "Depends how good you are at it." I clarified.Just as Klaus opened his mouth to bark out another order probably, Elijah spoke up "Come dear sister, you've been up half the night," he checked his Rolex watch "it's nearly lunchtime, come get something to eat. Take a break then come back to it."
"We need to find the twins!" Klaus snapped.
"Yes, and we mustn't lose Freya to starvation and sleep deprivation in the process, Niklaus." Elijah shot back.
"Boys!" Hayley shouted getting in between them and placing a hand on each of their chests but it was no use "Enough! How about a compromise, one of you can go get me something to eat and drink whilst I stay here and try something else."
"Great plan! Klaus and I will go." Hayley decided.
"Klaus will do no such thing."
"Oh yes he will.""Sometimes it's exhausting being the eldest." I admitted to Elijah. "I know, I was the eldest for 900 years, sometimes I really missed Finn. If you wanted to close your eyes for 5 or 10 minutes he wouldn't know."
"Something tells me he would. But I don't want to, I'm want to find them just as much as he does."
"We all do."
"Do you think it's easier being the youngest?"
"Probably."
"Do you think they're ok on their own?"
"They have each other."
"We presume and hope.""Ok! We brought substantial meals, sugar energy and lots of coffee." Hayley announced walking back into the upstairs living room with Klaus following, both of them had their hands full of take out and groceries. Their outing seemed to have calmed Klaus down and we all sat on the couches to eat, even though I was the only one who required to. I felt something in my trouser pocket which was weird because I was sure they were empty before.
"Freya, what's wrong?" Klaus asked making me look up, of course the 3 people with super senses noticed my pause. I didn't answer Klaus instead I reached into my pocket to pull out whatever had appeared there - perhaps Kol had found a way to send a magical note.
I pulled out a very old looking parchment. "Is that...?" Elijah asked. I nodded before adding "Kind of." the format of the magical note was still confusing me.
"When I was in school we done this project in history about slave ships and had to dye the paper with tea bags to make it look old." Hayley stated trying to make sense of it.
"So they're stuck in a school?" Klaus questioned incredulously.
"I don't know Klaus! What's your theory then?"
"Hey!" I cut their argument off before it got worse "Slave ships were like 1800s right?"
"Yes." Elijah confirmed.
"Had to check I was only awake for 1 year per century. This is older." I told them. "I agree, I have diaries from all of our lifetimes and my 19th century ones don't look that old." Elijah said taking the parchment from my hand to examine it with his stronger senses."What does say anyway?" Hayley asked. "It's too messed up to make anything out, at least for my eyes. Can you see anything Elijah?"
"The ink is very old too, hence why it hasn't stayed in place. It appears to be English but it's far too smudged to make the full note out." He stared at it for a few more minutes and tried to trace some of it onto a new piece of paper:3 way
B t sh d , S j h
K & Be"That's all I can get from it." Elijah announced once he was done and we all crowded around him ton look.
"You recognised English from that? That's impressive." Hayley told him "3 way. Maybe it's shorthand for freeway?" She suggested.
"The middle's just gobbledygook and I presume the last line says Kol & Bekah." I stated.
"Actually Kol would've wrote Bex." Klaus pointed out.A few hours later Klaus and I where still sitting in the upstairs living room reading books on various subjects, trying to find out anything we could regarding our latest enemy, when he asked me "Freya, when did you get a Mikaelson necklace made?"
"I didn't." I replied reaching up to touch my neck - I thought he must've been imagining it - but sure enough I felt a chain and pendant with an M engraved into it "That wasn't there earlier today." I stated.Klaus' face also dawned in realisation "ELIJAH! Hayley!"
I took the necklace off and looked it over "Rebekah." fell out of my lips longingly.
Elijah and Hayley rushed in "What's happened? Did you find them?" They asked jointly.
"No, but Rebekah's necklace just appeared around Freya's neck." Klaus informed them.
"What, how??" Hayley asked as Elijah held his hand out, requesting to see the necklace for himself. I complied and moved over to the bookcase, specifically Kol's section of it "There's a very old, strong, and specific spell to imprint a memory from someone into a beloved object of their's - and I'll let you guess who is one of the very few people on earth who knows how to do it.""Kol." Klaus realised.
"Do you know how to access the memory?" Hayley asked.
"Kind of." Klaus did not look impressed "Yes, I just need to double check a few things. I don't want to screw it up.""There's blood on this." Elijah stated "It's Rebekah's."
"Yeah, that's how it works. Please tell me it's not too dry?"
"Well it's not flaking yet but yes it's dried in."
"Mmm, please work." I begged taking the necklace back and beginning the spell. The memory was slightly fragmented but I caught the gist of it; unfortunately, it didn't make any sense.
"Freya? Did it work? What did you see?" Klaus asked worriedly.
"They're together. In Norway."
"Right. That warlock said he sent them back - back to our roots, where we came from." Elijah remembered.
"So he's against immortal, supernatural immigrants?" Hayley questioned."There's more." I said watching it again "That warlock isn't a warlock, he's a time-shifter demon(?)... that would explain... *gasp*!"
"Freya?"
"He didn't just send them back to where we're from. He sent them back in time... to the time when Ragnar Lothbrok was king!?"
Klaus and Elijah were shocked.
"Who?" Hayley asked.
"That's a good bit before we were all born." Elijah worked out.
"Do you know exactly when they are?" Klaus asked.
"The note had a 3 on it." Hayley pointed out.
"When was Ranger around?" I double checked with my brothers.
"7-800s, but I don't think he was king until the 800s." Klaus replied."Ok, so I take it we're talking about some Viking king." Hayley summarised as no one had answered her earlier question.
"Did you see anybody else notable?" Elijah asked.
"Aslaug, Kol compelled her to do magic. A Seer, he's the one who told them about the time-shifter." I looked back again trying to found something else to help us "Oh my gods."
"What?"
"Bjorn Ironside. Rebekah kicked him in the head. He's the one that found them."
"I don't know if I'm impressed, scared or ashamed." Klaus stated.
"How old is he?" Elijah asked. "Early 20s it looks like."
"Right, Ragnar's married to Aslaug and Bjorn's about 20, so the other Ragnarsons must be all born.""So how do we get the twins back?" Klaus asked.
"I don't know." I told him honestly.
"What do you mean you don't know?"
"I didn't even think time travel was possible."
"Well we'll all help research." Hayley said "We can read books faster than you."
"The answer's not going to be here. We are going to need to call in every favour with every single witch you know." I told them all.
