Several months back, UA had a self-defense highlight week. Each day, they would learn about a different technique of defense that wasn't based around their quirks. The first day was easiest for most of them because they had general knowledge on the subject: hand-to-hand combat. The next day was on close-range knife attacks and defenses, Wednesday had been gun safety, Thursday was escaping different bindings in case of another kidnapping, and Friday was review.
Most kids were fond of these kinds of weeks, because while it was often the most stressful from the amount of knowledge they had to cram into their heads it was also the most fun. They got to do a new activity every day to strengthen areas that they weren't perfecting. And it wasn't just one class that focused on it. Their English class would focus on these topics for their literature segment of the class, often having them pick through an article about it in English that had been pre-approved.
If you asked any of his classmates they would tell you that he absolutely hated these weeks because they were so confusing and took too much effort. They would also probably tell you his favorite one of the lesson's from that week was escaping from bindings because at least he didn't get knocked around quite as much and his nimble figure made escaping much easier.
If you asked him, he would agree with those sentiments. But that didn't make it the truth.
No, Kaminari Denki's opinions on the matter were much different than what he voiced to those around him. In fact, despite his apparent struggles with the subjects being taught, they were the easiest things in the world to him. Never had he been in a self-defense class that had been any less helpful to him. Though, when you have been trained from an unreasonably young age in the art of assassination classes meant for basic self-defense began to become a bit elementary.
His favorite day of that week had been Tuesday. Not because he found it particularly interesting but because it was the most bearable lesson. He had been trained with knives all his life and not a thing was taught in that class that he hadn't known prior, but watching his peers struggle with something that he could do blindfolded was always humorous. Not that he'd show it. That would blow his cover.
Before it's asked, no. Kaminari Denki is not a villain and has never intended to be a villain. There was just a bit more blood on his hands than he cared to admit. And to be clear, he would not be admitting to it if he had any say in the matter.
If Kaminari had any say in the matter though, there would be no blood on his hands, no skeletons in his closet, and certainly no identity from his past he'd much rather not be connected to.
Japan over the past several years had been struggling with catching a certain assassin under the name "Thunderstain". No one knew exactly who Thunderstain was, but they all feared this person. Many people began to speculate that Thunderstain was a family name rather than one person. That would explain the scarily high amount of people he had killed. No one was exactly sure how many people he's killed, not even Kaminari himself, but it was high enough that he was easily one of the most feared assassins out there.
Did he like being an assassin? A complicated question with a complicated answer. A short answer would be yes. But that would also make him sound like a psychopathic killer who murdered people for entertainment, which was not the case. No, he was no murderer. Because there was a difference.
He did enjoy his time as an assassin but not for those reasons. The rewards from the jobs he took were never a laughing matter and if he wasn't an assassin that was constantly on the run he could have used that money to live an incredibly lavish life. Instead, he kept quite a bit in savings and spent some on daily necessities. What he did that most people wouldn't expect from a literal assassin with a body count to put most high-up villains to shame was donate to charities.
