What the hell is going on? (Y/N) thought as she slowly regained consciousness.
The pain in her head had begun to pulse and it wasn't until she tried to sit up that (Y/N) noticed the manacles around her wrists.
Glancing around wildly, she finally began to take in her surroundings.
Bright lights. Wide open space. The cool metal chair she was sitting in. The two men from the park lurking at the edges of her vision.
No. No. No, please, no. This isn't happening, it can't be.
(Y/N) tried to throw her mind out to the men, to keep them away from her but was met with another painful throb. She could feel only a fraction of her power, as if someone had shielded her from herself.
"Looks like she's finally awake. We should go introduce ourselves shouldn't we Adaire?"
"Oh we most definitely should Felix."
(Y/N) thrashed uselessly against the manacles as the two men began to walk towards her.
"Now, now. Don't be like that. It won't do you any good anyways," Felix smirked.
(Y/N) closed her eyes, trying to steady her breathing.
I need to stay calm, they want me to panic. They want me to be the same terrified child that I used to be. I'm scared shitless right now, but they don't need to know that.
"What do you want with me?"
"Such a stupid question. What do you think we want from you?" Adaire asked. "We want you back. You were, and still are, the strongest of all our experiments. Of course, you'll have to face your punishment for abandoning us first."
A sadistic smile spread across Adaire's face as he motioned for Felix to bring something to him.
(Y/N)'s eyes went wide when she saw the table covered in knives. She had faced this particular brand of torture before, had the scars to prove it. It did nothing to calm her. The ones with the knives had always been the worst.
"There's something you forgot to mention Adaire," Felix said.
"Oh? I did? Silly me. Why don't you just go ahead and explain?"
Felix smiled and turned to (Y/N).
"I'm sure you've noticed by now that you can't feel our minds or access your powers. See, Hydro has run a lot of new experiments since you've been gone. One of which was to discover a way to protect normal people like Adaire and I from monsters like you.
We haven't mastered the formula quite yet, but for now, there are two sets of injections. One for us, one for you. Ours builds a wall around our minds, making us impossible for you to sense until it's too late. And as for the second one? Well, it keeps you from using your powers. We're not sure if it wears off or not, but we can always reprogram you if worst comes to worst. You have no hope of escape. There's no way for you to call for help."
(Y/N) didn't know what to do or how to react. Tears had begun to pool in her eyes and were soon leaving tracks down her cheeks.
They're going to cut me up. They're going to bring me to the brink of death only to rip it away. They'll force me into being their pet. Just like last time.
"Don't cry. This won't hurt for long... Oh, who am I kidding? This will hurt like hell!"
The men howled with laughter, both grabbing a knife and coming close to her.
(Y/N)'s breathing started to get erratic once again and she couldn't hold back her fear. She couldn't think straight in her panicked state of mind.
