APRIL 2011

LISA POV

"Mommy, I'm scared." I whimpered as I tightened my hug to my mom.

Today is April 11, 2011, and I just finished signing up the contract for being an official trainee of YG Ent.

We are now here in my dorm room and my mom helped me to unpack my luggage. My chest is so heavy right now because my mom will go back to Thailand today.

As part of the strict rule, I have to live here in Seoul by myself. I don't even understand any Korean language.

"Don't be scared, my princess." My mom pulled away from our hug and cupped my face, "You're a fighter, right?"

I nodded and pursed my lips. Tears keep rolling down my cheeks and I saw my mom's eyes are already glistening.

"That's my girl." She wiped my cheeks and a sad smile formed on her face,  "Your dad and I will call you every single day."

"I'm g-going to m-miss you..." I said between my sob and hugged my mom again. I shut my eyes and feel the warm body of my mom. I can't stop crying in the thought that I don't have any idea when will I see her again.

My mom pulled away again and kissed my cheeks, "Enough of crying, my Lisa." She wiped my cheeks again, "Just focus on your dream. You want to be one of the greatest K-pop idols, right?"

I nodded while trying to catch my breath.

My mom smiled, "Ms. Chan is already waiting for you." She held my hands, "I love you, my daughter."

After a few moments, my mom already went towards the airport. Ms. Chan guided me back to the YG building to start my first day of training.

I'm on the verge of crying again when I remembered my mom and dad. I miss them already. It's so hard to be separated from your parents when you're still so young.

I just turned 14 last month, by the way.

"We're here." Ms. Chan said and opened the door.

As I entered the room, I saw 10-15 trainees who are sitting on the wooden floor, patiently waiting for the dance practice to start.

I completely forgotten about the thoughts of my parents and my heart begins to pound so fast when I saw our dance trainer who's standing in front of the trainees.

Oh god.

This is it.

"Oh, you must be Lalisa?" The dance trainer said.

I bowed my head and nodded, "Y-yes, I-i'm Lisa Manoban." I'm stuttering because of nervousness and I can feel all the eyes are on me.

"I'm Kim Hee Jung." She said and she motioned her hand for me to sit down on the floor.

"Everyone, Lisa doesn't know how to speak Korean. As a part of the strict training, no one should talk to her in English. She must learn how to speak Korean. Is that clear?" Ms. Chan commanded and the trainees immediately answered back.

This is going to be so damn hard.

"Everyday, I teach a new choreo. I'm hoping that you can go along really well, Lisa." Ms. Heejung said and I nodded firmly.

After some time, the dance practice already started. I can easily follow all the steps that Ms. Heejung taught us. Some of the students were struggling to do the dance moves but for me, it was just an easy step. It's not that hard.
