‘I know we say I love you a lot. In the morning when we wake up, on our way out the door, sometimes when we say goodbye over the phone. We say I love you when something bad happens, and we want to let the other person know I’m here for you. We say I love you when one kid does something cute or ridiculous. Sometimes, I know, we say I love you when we’re really annoyed with each other. Sometimes we say it after a fight. Other times, we say it after making love. We say I love you a lot. I value it every time I'm told I love you. They are three brief words said so many times and so many ways, and they all add up to a story of our love together and what it means. I wanted to add one more I love you to the bunch-and I love you to let you know that I’m paying attention. When I say I love you, and you say I love you too, it still means so much to me. It’s such a part of our every day’s lives, but I’ll never take it for granted. I love you. What does love really means? What’s love exactly? He kept asking himself.’ Leonard thinks alone, staring at the tall skyscrapers through the transparent window of his office.

(Flashback)
It started with when Leonard went on a vacation with Lucas and Jayden; his best friends. Although they didn’t work together in the same office, they did almost everything together and these three have been friends since elementary school. Alongside their girlfriends- Navy and Milan, Leonard had invited his girlfriend, Kate. They had been in a long distance relationship for years; since after high school and for once in his life. Leonard had never been so sure of taking a solid decision like this. Taking her out and asking her to be his forever.
They had arrived at the beach on Friday night. Kate and Leonard spent the cold, misty might romantically. Kate, a young, talented fashion designer, works with a big company. Somewhere in Los Angeles. She has that perfect blond hair and sea-blue eyes, just like that of a model. Her perfect body could lure anyone to spend his forever with her, but there has been something holding Leonard from proposing.
He was planning to pop out the question on Saturday morning, but his instincts were pushing him like that of the waves over the sea. He was just too sure of whom he wanted and what he wanted was spending forever with Kate, the love of his life. Leonard was just sure of it.
Lucas had Jayden had already proposed to their girlfriends months ago. They were having a lovely moment together.
Leonard watched the fussy stars rippled in the water. While everyone was having fun, Kate was already feeling cold as she was only wearing her hot-red, looking bikini. Navy and Milan were in g-string pants and sexy looking bras, while the guys were in shorts. Others lay flat on their back, chit-chatting about either, while Kate was already looking dull.
Leonard plopped down beside her, propping on his elbow, his hand holding his head mere inches from hers. Kate kept staring at the starry sky. At the distance, one could still hear music playing at the motel where they’re supposed to spend the night. A motel close to a beach.
“It’s beautiful out here, isn’t it?” Leonard started.
“Hmm…” she muttered, flashing her dazzling smile, still looking at the sky. “Just like the stars, right?”
Leonard wore a smirk.
“No... just like you, Kate. You’re more beautiful.” He breathed.Kate turned to him and giggled, biting a part of her full, soft lips. With this, he moved closer to her a bit.
“You don’t have to lie, Leo. It’s not as if the truth will hurt you.” She joked.
“Oh, come on Kate. You know you’re beautiful, right? In and out. You’re brighter to me than the moon; And I love you so much. I just wish we’re engaged already.”
“Really?” She couldn’t help but to laugh.
“Yes. Really.” He whispered.
That’s when he held her hand. Her soft, tiny icy hands that fit perfectly into his. His touch felt magical. She could no longer hide her feelings from him so, she turned to him, staring into his dark chestnut eyes that glitter under the moonlight.
“You’re charming to me too.” She said to him affectionately. “But what are you up to?”
Leonard gazed into her blue eyes intensely. The both of them were deeply in love with each other as they moved closer. Then Kate closed her eyes.
Next, Leonard placed his lips on hers, slowly driving wet kisses. Kate tilted her head too, wrapping her hands around his neck while Leonard held her by the waist, pulling her closer.
Leonard could taste the whiskey on Kate’s tongue and feel the heat of her breath on his face. As their mouth got warmer and wetter, Kate climbed his body, sitting on top of him, still driving more wet kisses. Leonard cradled her head, his fingers in her blond hair. He kissed the nape and touched her young, prickly, pear-like breasts. It felt so soft and succulent. Leonard just wanted to have a taste of it... when something suddenly occurred to him. He stopped kissing and stared into Kate’s eyes again.
“What’s it Leo? Why did you stop?” She mutter rather impatiently.
He kept quiet for a while, glancing at her with many questions in his eyes.“Leo...” she muttered.
Still looking into her eyes, Leonard stood and knelt in front of her. Lucas and Jayden quickly turned to them. Wondering what was happening.
“Katelyn Braden,” He begins. “Sometimes we’re together. We’ll be out at a restaurant or maybe just at home, sitting on the couch or talking about our days, and I’ll look over at you, and I’m struck by how much I love you. It’s just like the first time. I see you and it hits me. Only now, unlike the first time, I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have you.”
Leonard placed his hands into his side-pocket and brought out a glassy box. In it was a tiny ring. It looked beautifully designed in raw gold and ruby. She looked stunned, as if everything confused her.
“Before I met you, all my relationships always seemed so hard. They were something I had to work at, and it felt forced. With you, everything is so easy. Loving you come so naturally, and it has come from the very beginning. It’s as if I looked up and there you were: this amazing man. And then there it was: This amazing love I have for you. Would you be my wife, Kate?”
“Woah!!!” Others clapped. Amused.
“Say yes darling!” Navy and Milan encouraged as they chorused.
She was just so confused and suddenly started sweating.
“Would you grant my wishes as the queen of my life, and crown my love for you? Would you marry me, Kate?”
“Yes!! Say yes!!” Milan and Navy persuaded her excitedly. They were jumping to the proposal, while Kate suddenly burst into tears.
“I’m so sorry, Leo. I can’t marry you.”
