I watched as a beautiful woman with long strawberry blonde hair and the most beautiful dark blue eyes walked across the garden. She sat down in the chair across from me, fixing the skirt of her favorite pink and white dress before looking up at me with a soft smile.

"Kat, my dear friend, how have you been?" She asked, offering a smile to the butler as he poured her some tea.

I leaned back in my chair, smiling as I pushed a piece of hair behind my ear. "I've been well. How have you been, Rachel?" I replied, thanking the butler as he poured me some more tea.

Rachel took a sip of her tea. "I've been good. How is Adrian?" She set her cup down on the garden table.

I chuckled. "He is well. As always he's his cheery self, despite what he does for a living." She chuckled.

"You're probably wondering why I've called on you on such short notice." She smiled.

I nodded. "Yes, but I do enjoy your company so it's no bother, sweetheart."

She giggled. "Well that's good to hear since I as well enjoy your company, too."

I smiled, tilting my head some. "So, what is the reason you've called on me?" I took a sip of my tea and then set it back down on the table .

She seemed to perk up at this question. She grinned brightly. "I'm with child!" She announced.

I looked at her in shock for a moment, before leaping up and hugging her. "Oh sweetheart! That's wonderful!" She laughed, hugging me.

"He's adorable," I said, smiling down at the little newborn as he rested in the crib next to Rachel's bed. He had their mothers beautiful dark blue eyes and their fathers black hair. He let out an adorable little yawn, stretching his tiny arms out before going back to sleep again.

Rachel smiled as Vincent rubbed his sons cheek. "He is, isn't he?" She said, smiling brightly as everyone in the room gushed over him.

I watched as Vincent played with his son in the yard while Rachel and I stayed up at the garden table in the shade.

"Kat." I looked over to see her giving me a serious look.

"Yes?" I picked up my cup and took a sip of tea.

She was silent for a moment, causing me look up at her. She was frowning as she watched her husband and son play.

"What's wrong?" I asked in concern.

She sighed, slowly turning her head to look at me. "Promise me, that if something were to happen....you'd look after him," she whispered.

I set my cup down, frowning as I nodded. "Of course I would. You know that. Sweetheart, where's this coming from?"

Just as she was going to answer, her son came running up to us. "Mommy! Auntie Kat! Look! Look!" As he was showing something to Rachel, I wondered why Rachel would say that all of a sudden.

Years later I would understand why.
