“My goal is to start a chain reaction of kindness. I want to make people in the world feel good about themselves and I want people to stop making fun of those who are less fortunate than they are. Once someone shows a little kindness, it will rub off on everyone else and start a chain reaction,” you explained.
Sumedh felt as if you were directing your answers right at him. After that day, you and Sumedh became the best of friends. You showed him a lot about life and taught him to be a better person. Sumedh started giving people around him the second chances they deserved. You were so carefree and lived life to the fullest, always
worrying about helping others before helping yourself. Sumedh felt so thankful that he had you, a wonderful person in his life.
Two weeks before graduation, Sumedh's car broke down, and he had no way to get to work. His job was five miles away, and if he missed one more day, his boss was going to let him go. So he called you, and you told him that he could take your car because your job was within walking distance from your house. Sumedh hesitated at first, but you insisted because that’s the type of person you were. Thankfully, he made it to work on time.
That night, you left your job at around 9:00 p.m. and should have arrived at home within five minutes. Sumedh was waiting at your house with your car, but you never made it there.
On your way home, you were mugged. A witness said that the mugger told you if you gave him your wallet, you would be fine. He lied. He shot and killed you right there. Not one day has gone by that Sumedh hasn’t blamed himself for what happened. If he hadn’t taken your car, you would still be here today. But your mother helped him realize that you were just doing what you did best – helping another with your kindness.
At your funeral, Sumedh promised you that he would keep your goal of a chain reaction of kindness alive. He would spread all the kindness that he could on to others in need and tell them to do the same so your name will never be forgotten.
