A light cold breeze peered through the small crack of an open window forcing the curtains to gently dance. Although there was snow pecking the ground tonight, the private lounge inhabited by the couple sitting on a rather petite couch were warm. Her breaths were quiet and so were his, only the sound of pages turning, and ink scribbling echoed the ghostly-silent room. They were in trance with their work, her interest in guides that provided information on dating and his work which had a deadline set this midnight by none other than the Lieutenant Colonel himself, Guren.

"What kind of person is Shinya Hiiragi?" (Y/N) mumbled to herself as her eyes examined the pages of an outdated pre-apocalyptic romance and gossip magazine which was catered to teens. These types of literature, if you can call it that, were rare entertainment pieces. They were also a historical item because no one really knew how society could establish itself back to normal when everything had been uprooted; however, people were fine to just fantasize that this world would be the new normal for the time being.

She glanced over at the silver-haired man sitting her to her. He was everything to her, all the good and bad qualities about him made her love him even more. He was a good lover, reliable, gentle, supportive, and an even greater ally. Although (Y/N) was a civilian and Shinya a Major General of the Japanese Imperial Demon Army, they had developed a sort of reciprocal relationship. His gaze averted from his own paperwork to meet hers as she found herself staring at him. He set the pile of paperwork on the coffee table in front of them as a gesture that her attention was more valuable.

Shinya chuckled to himself to ease the shyness between the two, "Sorry, what kind of question is that?" His eyes locked on to hers, only for second, but she could see those same blue eyes that gave warmth and comfort to her confused before he pondered on how to answer her. He was clad in his army uniform, but the contrast of his vibrant aura made him more outstanding...especially accentuating his slender body. He took this chance to lean closer to her, erasing all the space between them.

"Wait!" (Y/N) snatched the magazine away from his peering eyes, "I was just caught up in this compatibility quiz" She said flustered, dismissing the awkward atmosphere with her hand all while trying to justify herself as she pointed to one of the pages in the magazines. There were scribbles on them lit by a dim light casted from a lamp next to the arm of the couch, they were most likely from its previous owner.

"Oh! I used to love taking quizzes with Sayrui and the others," Shinya said happily as he stood creating a fist that he tapped lightly on his hand to remember the times when he was a bachelor only to look at (Y/N) for a reaction, "Though I know (Y/N) is the only girl for me!" He said lighthearted as he leaned closer to her face. Although she was used to his romantic yet cheesy gestures, she was still amazed each time at how rapidly he was able to say just the right words.

"Its almost midnight and-" (Y/N) moved her blushing face away, she wanted to change the subject fast, slowly pushing the weight of his chest away from her. She knew exactly what he meant through the façade of an innocent man although they had only been secretly dating for a few months. She wanted to publicly announce their relationship, because they were more than just a fling. Even the official label of their relationship would suffice.

"I-I would feel bad if I couldn't live up to your expectations because you've accomplished so much and I'm just me-" She said searching for comfort in his eyes as she realized the seriousness of the situation. Her own insecurities always complicated things, even now, the relationship they've entered because although reproduction was the main objective that was adopted in this apocalyptic society, she was still new to romance alongside her more charismatic and popular boyfriend. Although her recent interest in romance guides and gossip with her close girlfriends Shinoa, Sayuri, Mito, and Shigure often revealed new tips on how to successfully romance, she still felt inadept because of the lack of experience.

Shinya paused, hesitating to speak for a moment. He knew (Y/N) was rather shy, but never insecure because he viewed her as an inseparable extension to himself. He veered away from her, abandoning the space between them all while running his fingers through his hair and let out a desperate sigh.

"You know, it's okay, (Y/N). You don't have to live up to expectations, I'm with you because of who you are as a person" He waved sincerely at her all resuming his duties to finish his paperwork tasks back next to her on the couch, "Plus, whose dumb enough to say those things to my girlfriend?" He reassured her, always knowing how to comfort her because her boundaries and comfort always came first. He was after all a loyal comrade and boyfriend.

"I guess you're right" She smiled focusing on his words and pushing the strands of the flyaway hairs behind her ear. Although she still had worries about holding him back because his comrades always come first, she was content knowing that she could occupy part of his life. Even if it was a small fraction, she wanted to make most of it. After all, this was a conversation that needed to happen another time.

"Of course! I am after all (Y/N)'s ideal boyfriend" Shinya cooed snaking his arms her waist in a mission to bring her to an embrace. Although she wasn't shocked by the sudden embrace, the texture of his obviously larger hands gently patting her back in an attempt to comfort her made this moment more memorable.

She let herself bury her face into his chest as she whined looking at his bright smile, "Shinya, that's so cheesy!" He smelled good, almost like those sweets he likes to indulge in when Guren isn't around. He was warm, especially in comparison to the cold space they occupied, and every chance to be in his intense embrace was blissful.

His hand snatched the tattered magazine, "Do you want to know my favorite page?" With his free hand, the pages flipped towards a section of the page filled with romancing tips. Many of them are aimed towards the art of seducing and were highlighted with big bright bubbles to catch the reader's attention. While she thought most of them were too vanilla for Shinya's experience and taste, the thought of actually testing them sent butterflies in her stomach.

"Haha," Her mood lifted as she covered your mouth to hold back her laughter at this newfound information about her boyfriend.

"What?" He shrugged happy to know that she was in a better mood.

Her delicate hands cupped his face so that both their gazes were forced to meet, "You're goofy."

He was pouting, making sure she knew he was needy with lustful blue eyes, "God, you're beautiful, (Y/n)...can-"

"Of course," She didn't hesitate to respond before finishing his sentence.

Consequently, he took no moment to swiftly part her hair revealing her neck and nibble on the lobes of her ears trailing down to a much more sensitive area, the side of her neck. Her soft moans were motivation for his ears as a sly smirk covered his face and his moving hands trailing elsewhere by the guiding virgin hands of (Y/N). His warm breathing was much more ragged in his chest with each suckling that left a bruise on the neck of his girlfriend. Maybe those tips from those romance guides did come in handy after all?

A few doors down, the growing impatience of the Lieutenant Colonel grew as the time flew past midnight. The moon casted light onto his raven hair, he did after all, have insomnia.

"What's taking the kid so damn long?" He achingly mumbled to himself in the dimly lit office as he stared into the gold plated time watch.
