Boruto bit a large chunk off his flaming spicy chilli burger as he felt the strong, cold wind hit his face. Shikadai had his half-eaten burger in his right hand and the drink on his left, he sipped it as he stared at the morning sky.
"It's sure been long, hasn't it?" he said, still not taking his eyes off the pale blue sky. Boruto smiled and looked up at the sky too.
"Yeah, it has" Boruto replied now closing his eyes and throwing away his finished burger's wrapper. He leaned backwards until his back touched the roof of the Thunder rail train.
Shikadai smirked at him. "neither of us have done this for three years. I almost missed it."
"Yeah. I was away from the village and you were probably busy with missions, dattebasa."
"busy with missions? What an understatement, I still regret completing the form to take the Jounin exams. I was scared mom would kill me if I didn't. What a drag women can become..."
"heh, so I guess I'm the only one who's a Genin now?" Boruto looked at his friend with his eyebrows raised, amusedly.
Shikadai laughed suddenly, "now that you ask me, I just remembered Daiki was one too!"
"seriously? I thought he looked tough."
"that dude got beat up by Denki during the Chunin exams. But that was understandable because at that time he was a stranger to the village, someone new, someone people didn't accept so quickly. But; he's probably gotten way stronger now"
"that's great. Anyways, I bet I'm stronger than all of the Jounin, Chunin, and Genin here, dattebasa!" Boruto exclaimed raising his chin to the air.
Shikadai rolled his eyes at Boruto, "I don't know if you're joking or not, but all of us have become way stronger than we were when you left"
"I know," Boruto said pulling back his stupid self and smiling, "but to me, none of you have changed one bit"
"is it supposed to be a good thing? Cause when you say that with that stupid smile on your face—"
"yeah, it is a good thing. It obviously is. imagine coming back home after three years of training hard and all to see a dumb you, a dieting Cho-Cho, a weak Sarada, and a tan Mitsuki... I'd probably run away from the village again dattebasa"
"True. but that aside; things are becoming such a drag, aren't they?" Shikadai asked, exhaling lightly.
Boruto raised his eyebrows at his friend, "what do you mean?"
"you don't know? I probably can't tell you—"
"you mean the— uh, how do I know if you're thinking the same thing as I am?"
"huh? Me? I am thinking about something really bothersome! And how would I tell if you're just pretending to know?" Shikadai contradicted.
"I assure you; I know what you're talking about!" Boruto fired back.
Shikadai sighed finally, "I guess I have no choice then... it's about Mr Sasuke finding another type of Zetsu"
"ah, phew. I wasn't so sure about what you were going to spill for a second, dattebasa! But now that we're thinking even. I'll have you know I was there with Sasuke-san too"
"Wow... how could someone like you have handled something like that? You probably hid under his cloak crying!" Shikadai smirked at him and Boruto scoffed.
"As if! I beat a hell lot of them down before I fell down myself, dattebasa!" Boruto stated proudly; puffing his chest out and standing. He felt the wind across his face harder and colder.
