Song: Apocalypse - Cigarettes After SexQuote: "I remember when she used to look at me that way."
Characters: Past!Finn Balor x Reader; Drew McIntyre x Reader~
Finn saw you happy.
It was a sight to see. A beaming grin on your lips as you twirled in the arms of one Drew McIntyre. The melody of your laughter for everyone to hear in the party. Everyone loved it, Finn loved it. It was the fact that it wasn't his doing that hurts him the most.
You were happy in the arms of another man.
It was his fault, after all. Together you were the most miserable. The most lonely woman. The most pitied woman to have ever been part of WWE. It was his doing, his own decisions that made you that way. It was when you finally had enough that you let him go.
Like a switch, He saw you again like the first time he fell in love with you. Witty, outspoken, and loved the company of a cheerful bunch. You bounced back like nothing happened and he was left to be the mess no one would think of him to be.
Your (e/c) eyes that he would often see swollen from tears and the dark circles for lack of sleep were replaced with the beam of light as they stayed glued to Drew--glued to the man that would never make the same mistake as him. Someone that would finally see your worth. Something he has realized far too late, it seems. The pleas from your lips were replaced with giggles as Drew continued to talk to you about the most random of things.
They used to be like that, Finn remembers. Glued to the hip, you and him against the world as you made a name for yourself in Japan as much as he did. You were always called the Gaijin Power Couple, one cannot exist without the other. Oh how Finn had come to realize such a fact.
Then WWE came knocking on both of your doors, but you chose to stay longer in Japan, even with her begging for him to do the same, he didn't. His ambitions got the best of him. It was his downfall and the reason they were in misery when she did eventually come back. Things have changed, his view of the world and his career changed and it consumed him and harmed her in the process.
It broke you to see him as someone else. Someone you could never truly understand as hard as you tried to. It took a year of trying to make it work before you called it quits. Moved out of the home you shared with him in Orlando and found yourself farther away from him--and closer to one returning Drew McIntyre.
He should have expected it to happen. He had allowed her to go and someone else was there to pick up the pieces. Drew did all of it and more, so much more than he possibly could.
"Finn? You okay?"
He turned to see Becky Lynch, the smile of reassurance could only do so much for him at this point. Returning his gaze back to the couple, he was once again reminded about the news they had shared to the world only minutes prior.
They were getting married.
Another thing he couldn't give to you even after being together for such a long time.
"I remember when she used to look at me that way." He shrugged ruefully. "I know it's my fault why she left, but the pain doesn't go either way."
It never did. Three years of despair and the pain still remained as such. He believes it never will.
"You had your chance, Finn. It's time for her to be happy."
"I know. That's the reason why I'm leaving after PPV."
With the stagnation that was his career in WWE, he did not have anything else left for himself and for his career here. Japan was more than willing to have him back and he will make a life for himself, away from WWE, and away from Y/N L/N.
