“Urghhh, my head hurts.” Groaning in pain, Midoriya clutched his head as he got up from the bed towards the bathroom.
Bile rushed up his throat, as the green haired teen started vomiting everything from his stomach and into the toilet bowl.
“Fuck...”
The poor teen cleaned up the mess he had made, before rinsing his mouth one last time.
Ah right, the only food I ate was a god damn banana and a cup of coffee.
That was dumb of me.
"BAM!"
“Ow!” Midoriya clutched the back of his head in pain as he glared at the drawer that had wounded his head.
Sighing, he grabbed the makeup set from the drawer, and started applying concealer over his face.
He can’t risk anyone seeing him in such a weakened state after all.

“Hello.”
Midoriya yelped in surprise at the sudden intrusion of the creature before him.
It was around 6 in the morning, and he wasn’t expecting anyone to be awake.
“Principal Nedzu?”
“Midoriya, good morning.”
“A-Ah, good morning, Principal Nedzu. Uhm, if you don’t mind me asking, what are you doing here?”
“Midoriya, I need you to calm down when I tell you this, alright?”
A hesitant nod.
Principal Nedzu spoke.
And Midoriya broke.

“Hey, has anyone seen Midoriya?’
“Oh, about that.”
Heads turned to the class representative.
“Aizawa-sensei just texted to tell me that Midoriya won’t be attending school for the next few days.”
-w-
Midoriya sighed for the umpteeth time that day.
Staring out of the opened windows, he listened to the quietness of the air, the noise outside the room, and the sound of the beeping machine that signal his mother’s lifeline.
He didn’t like the heart rate monitor machine.
It terrifies him, putting him on edge.
Would his mother still be there the next second?
He never entertained the idea.
He didn’t want to.
According to the doctors, a villain had mugged her on the way out, and knocked her out unconscious.
They said it was lucky she survived, lucky that the villain did not kill her instead.
Lucky?
Midoriya scoffed.
Midoriya was annoyed.
Pissed.
Fate loves to do this to him.
Tease him with the idea of losing someone he loves while preventing him from dying.
Making him suffer through the panic that one day, he'll be all alone again.
How many times has someone who is close to me ended up in the hospital?
He had already lost counted.
But then again, does it matter?
At this point, Midoriya didn’t care anymore.
He survived against fate for so long.
Who’s to say he can’t defeat fate?
-
“Problem child, are you alright?”
‘Hm, oh sensei, yeah I’m fine.”
Midoriya could sense the worried look his teacher was giving him.
He clutched his mother’s hand, “I’m just glad she didn’t die.”
“Aizawa sensei, if you don’t mind, may I return back to class tomorrow?”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes. My mom wouldn’t want me to fret over her like this. I’m sure she would have preferred me moving forward. I want to make her proud.”
He knows she'll die one day.
Fate would make sure she dies.
And when that time comes, then he'll worry about it.
But of course, Midoriya kept that to himself.
No one needed to know.
“You’re doing good, problem child.”
“Thank you, sensei.”
I’m sorry.
