CHAPTER 3: CAUGHT

Over these past 3 weeks me and Niki have been hanging out a lot lately and I am enjoying every single moment of it.  Right now it seems too good to be true and to be honest I don't think I should be enjoying myself this much. Right now I'm just waiting for something bad to happen like always.  Anyways, me and Niki have been pretty close over this past month.  We have to call each other over at least once a day. My parents have no idea whats so ever that Niki exists. Over this past month I have been sneaking out at night or either telling them that I'm going to the park they haven't caught me.

Right now I am planning on escaping again. I had to put some oil on my window sill because it made a really creaky noise. I pulled my window upwards and rested my thigh on the ledge. I looked back at my door to check If anyone was there. The coast was clear. I swung my head onto the other side of the window so now my face was against the gentle wind. I swung my other leg to the other side, then jumped down. I looked at my living room window as always and saw my dad facing his back to me, watching TV buried into the sofa. On the TV a black screen showed up, then making me see a little bit of my own reflection. I gasped. I immediately took a step to the side where I was no longer looking into the window and no one could see me. My dad turned around getting up from his slumped position.
"HEY! WHO'S THERE!" I saw him get up from his seat and walk towards the front door.

Shit.

I scanned the area I was in. I had to get out of here. I looked at the street across me and saw a little shop with posters covering the windows. I took a run for it. I saw my dad peep his head out of the front door and look at me. my eyes widened. I saw his face turn into an angry glare he screamed my full name. I covered my ears then ran to the back of the store, out of the back door.
"HEY THAT DOOR IS FOR EMERGENCY!" the shopkeeper yelled.
"IM SORRY BUT THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!" I screamed back. from the corner of my eyes I saw the shopkeeper look at me in disbelief. I smiled. It felt like life was on the edge. This feeling was somehow felt.....good? I ran onto a familiar road that I usually cross when I go to Niki's house. I turned left and saw Niki's house. I ran to her front door and knocked on her door many times. I saw the shadow of a small person coming to the door. Even in all this chaos Niki can still make me smile.

She opened the door and I saw a tired Niki in front of me. She looked at me, a smile appeared on her face.
"Hey Y/n... what are you doing here so late?" Niki said in a tired voice. Oh no, I must have woken her up from her sleep. She was rubbing her eyes and she was even in a blanket. I felt bad...
"Sorry Niki for waking you up but I have bad news..." She looked at me in curiosity.
"What is it?"
"Niki my dad kinda saw me escaping..." she looked at me with wide eyes.
"Come in then! tell me the rest when we're inside." I stepped into her house and made my way to her bedroom. Niki disappeared into her duvet. I guess she was really tired.
"So Y/n tell me what's happening." Her voice was muffled from her being under the duvet.
"Well I don't know where he is now but he definitely saw me come out of the house."
"Did he follow you?"
"I don't know, the furthest I saw him go was just outside our front door."  
"Ok good." I could somehow hear Niki smiling under the duvet.
"Hey Niki...?"
"Yes?"
"Do you mind if I can stay at your house for a while? I just can't go back since my dad saw me sneaking out, I can't imagine how he would react. He's going to punish me and hit me please Niki." Niki came out of her duvet and looked at me. Her eyebrows lowered. She leaned forward towards me and gave me a warm embrace. I put my chin on her shoulder.
"Of course you can stay here."

Feeling her warm embrace I knew I was safe here with her.
Eventually, I was feeling sleepy too and I leaned on Niki's small head.

THE NEXT DAY

I looked at my phone and saw that I had 30 missed calls and they were all from my family.
I sighed.
It's time to redeem myself.  I woke up and headed to Niki's kitchen and made a big breakfast with all of the things in Niki's cabinet. I placed two plates full of food on her table. And then there she stood before me. I saw a sleepy Niki with messy hair looking at me. She looked at the 2 plates full of food.
"Wow Y/n how did you make this? It looks like a lot of work."
"It wasn't that hard Niki I made it with the things in your cabinet." I went behind her and put my hands on her shoulder and guided her to the table. I loved this. I tucket her chair in once she was sat on her chair. This was just like a date. I saw her pick up her fork and eat happily. This was the Niki I loved seeing.  I was staring at her for quite a bit and I think she realized I was staring.
"Hey Y/n, arent you going to eat?" Once she spoke she snapped me out of my thoughts.
"O-oh yeah I am." I heard Niki chuckle.
"You were looking at me for quite a long time, what's up?" My cheeks got red and flushed.

"Nothing just your pretty face."
