"Ok sit here" he says. I watch as he sits in front of me. "Don't you dare tell me to meditate" I say. He chuckles and opens his right hand and closes his eyes. He exhales and a spark ignites into a small flame in his hand. My jaw drops. He opens his eyes and they're ruby red. They shine beautifully. "I can't do that" I say. He lunges for me and I panic. His palm connects with my forehead. I feel my body heat up. Oh my Goddess I'm on fire. He sits back and I sit up. "You just haven't ever felt your power yet. Do you feel the warmth" he asks. My entire body felt more alive, warmer, every cell in my body was awakened.
"This is amazing" I saw looking at my arms. I opened my palm and a tiny flame appeared. "Your aura shows so much unmatched raw power. You just need to tap into it with training" he says. "How" I say. "I'll train you but you can't stay here. I have a mission at hand" he says. "I'll go" I say. He nods. "You're going to crash soon" he says. I look up and things start to get whoozy.
The next morning I woke up in an unfamiliar room. "We've crossed the boarder. We need to change your look" he says. "How" I ask. He hands me some scissors. "Cut it short" he says and leaves the room. I look at the clothes he left me. These were boys clothes. A black cloak pants and long boots. "Oh great I'm a boy now" I whisper. I come to the mirror and touch my hair. Our family never cut our hair. The long white hair that was braided down to my lower back. I sigh. I start chopping it off. I cut it short and messily. I changed clothes and looked in the mirror. Gone was the aristocratic young lady, now before me stood a runaway and a liar.
But it's only out of necessity.
I turn and walk out of the room. "Looks good kiddo" he says and hands me a plate of food. My stomach now decide to make a loud growl. "Today we move" he says.
We walked for hours upon hours. "We'll stop here for the night" he says. I collapsed onto the ground. "Training starts" he says. I groan and get back up. "This is your assignment for the next few days" he says dropping his bag. He moves from stance to stance in a technical motion. "Those are the stances. This is called the dance of the moving flame. I want you to be able to complete this fluently". I nod. He does it again except he moves with grace and flow. "Like this" he says. I give it a try. "Too rigid". After hours of practice and comments about "too rigid or try again, you messed up, stop messing up, you forgot a move, fluent kiddo, this is hopeless".
"Show me again then" I nearly yell. "It's time for a break" he says as he begins to take a nap. I clench my fists. I walk off into the woods and come across a pond. Maybe I should meditate. I sit at the waters edge and close my eyes. I try to clear my mind however the image my my mother and father crying over me tarnishing our family name. I keep trying however I just can't. I open my eyes and watch the water ripple and flow. I stand and go through the motions again. Fluid and fluent. I move my body. "You're doing well" he says scaring me. I jump and turn to him. "We're going to move" he says. I nod.
It wasnt long before we came to an inn. He paid for the night and we came to the room. "I'll take the floor" he says. He gave off an energy of kindness. "Thank you" I say. I lay on the bed and shut my eyes. I hear Him get up and leave the room a little while later.
Doesn't matter to me. I just need some rest. Once the morning came he nudged me. "We're going to train more today" he says. I groan and get up.
The meadow was beautiful. Butterflies and insects flew around from flower to flower. "Remember how the water moved" he says. I nod. "Mr Satsumo why can't I use the wind" I ask. "Who knows. Maybe a grandmother was one or it skipped some generations. Could be a mutation* he says. I give a curt nod and clear my mind. I remember back to the water that rippled across the bank. I gracefully moved from stance to stance. Coming to the last one I blew out a small candle sized flame. "Good job kiddo, however did I tell you to add in some fire"? He says raising a brow. I smiled and shrugged. "You can't control it yet. Take it slow". I huff and nod.
