(Y/N) blinked her eyes open begrudgingly, awakened by the sound of the birds chirping and the rain splattering against the window, grey skies looming outside of the window. She groaned and turned over, pressing her cold nose into the warmth of Marth's neck and sighing. Her voice was raspy with sleep when she spoke into the silence, "You know, I kind of miss the winter time. Snow falls silently and the birds hate it and thusly are not here to ruin my morning with their squawking".

Marth's chest shook with laughter and she fondly pushed a piece of hair behind (Y/N)'s ear, "Love, it's been spring for like one day, don't tell me you're already tired of it".

Her girlfriend huffed slightly, burrowing further down into the warmth of the covers, arm tightening around Marth, "Okay fine. I won't tell you".

Marth winced slightly, "Your bracelet is digging right into my flesh right now, not in a good way. You could take that thing off once in a while you know. Namely, while we're sleeping. I swear I get stabbed every single night".

(Y/N) pulled her arm from under the covers with an impish smile, "But it's so pretty, and you gave it to me. I said I would never take it off and I meant it", and then she just admired it. It wasn't anything too expensive but it gleamed silver in the light, bearing several tiny charms. Ballet shoes, a book, a little ribbon, a coffee mug, and heart which could open to reveal an even tinier picture of the two of them.

Marth had given it to her for Valentine's day that year. She had closed the bookstore so that they could spend the day together. Between lazy kisses and entwined bodies they hadn't left bed until the early afternoon. Marth had taken her to the florist down the street then, because, as she had explained, she would rather buy (Y/N) a living plant than a bunch of dead flowers. (Y/N) had picked out a jasmine plant, twined into a circle and it was expensive but Marth had bought it anyway just for the serenity which passed over (Y/N)'s face as she inhaled the sweet scent of the little white flowers. Marth was so in love with her in this way that she had pulled the camera out of her bag to snap a photo. (Y/N) had turned at the sound of the shutter, a wide smile across her lips, though she still pretended to be annoyed. That same jasmine plant still sat on the window sill. Sometimes, Marth thought (Y/N) cared for the plant more than she did her girlfriend. It was no matter, Marth just liked to see her happy. They had thought about going out to eat, but it was too risky to be seen with another woman on the most romantic day of the year. Bigotry ran rampant whether they wanted it to or not. Instead, they stayed home and cooked. Or really, (Y/N) cooked and Marth distracted. She did put Marth to work grinding up the pesto, which she largely regretted because as it turned out Marth was not much of a chef at all. It was still alright, the pasta was overcooked and the broccoli over steamed but the way Marth looked in candlelight was enough to make up for it. The ended the day in the clawfoot tub together, (Y/N)'s back settled against Marth's chest, head tucked into the crook of her neck. She almost could have fallen asleep that way if it weren't for Marth startling her with a handful of bubbles to the face. (Y/N) had spluttered, sitting upright suddenly to clear the soap from her face and then she had turned, eyes narrowed in mock anger. By the time they had finished assaulting each other with bubble bath, there was more water on the floor than there was left in the tub. It was the perfect day.

(Y/N) relived it often, and she did again this morning, completely lost to her thoughts when Marth pressed a kiss to her temple, "What are you thinking about?"

(Y/N) turned her face up to look at her girlfriend, a smile gracing her lips, "Just how lucky I am to have had you".

Marth raised an eyebrow, "I don't know what you mean 'have had', you still have me, you'll always have me".

(Y/N) closed her eyes and swallowed back her secret once again, only quietly agreeing and hoping that the doubt hadn't seeped into her voice. Marth only tightened her grip, "I'll never leave you, I promise".
