✧narrator✧

viola couldn't help but feel exceedingly nervous as she hovered behind her friends in the entrance to the bar - it wasn't a place where someone like viola belonged.

the bar was...quirky, to say the least. tall, black, stone walls with gold accented decorations, black leather booths and stone tables. the bar was made of marble - black, of course.

the trio made their way across the room towards an empty section of the bar, albeit viola trailing behind a little in sheer wonder of such a place, trying to seem like they belonged there; like they were rich enough to just pop in for a quiet drink as if it was nothing.

viola floated across the marble floor, her dress trailing slightly behind her. her heart was in her throat - she was surrounded by people who were highly known, who meant something to the city - maybe even the world.

yet here she was - an extremely average student wearing the nicest and most expensive dress she owned; and even then it couldn't add up to what some of the other women were wearing.

the people surrounding viola looked at if they wore her entire years wages on their wrist. flashy watches, sparkly bangles, heavy necklaces that looked like they had more jewels than the queens crown.

her eyes skated over the masses of people around her; all of them incapsulated in their own worlds, until her eyes met with someone else's.

how she hadn't seen him when she'd got to the bar - she didn't know. it was almost like he was stood in a spotlight. now perched on a bar stool in-between her friends, she straightened her back as he held her gaze.

"hey, dumbass, drink." ophelia deadpanned - snatching the glass off the bartender and hoisting it towards viola's mouth, ignoring the disapproving look from the bartender at her actions. viola took the glass, taking a small sip before her eyes, ignoring the bartender watching her intently, before turning back to the man.

he was tall, probably a foot taller than her. his skin could almost be described as alabaster - but there was a hint of pink under the surface. he had a frown etched onto his face; though it was only obvious between his eyebrows.

his nose was wider than average - and as he turned his face to the side, squint glinting across his stare, she noticed how long it protruded from his face. but it was his eyes that caused her gaze on him to freeze. they were a deep brown; almost black, though something about them was similar to a sirens call. how edgy, she thought.

she watched as his lips parted, as if he was going to speak to her, though they were at least twenty feet apart, before he closed it again - opting to extend a finger and curve it, beckoning her over as he turned to walk outside.

viola found herself downing her drink - ophelia wasn't joking when she said they were strong. she scrunched her face a little, not realising how harsh the vodka that slid down her throat was.

"hey, i'm just gonna go get some air - alright?" viola mumbled, already hopping off the barstool, grabbing her jacket and purse on her way down, and walking away before her friends had a chance to reply.
