bryce~ ...we've been walking for 10 minutes in silence.

kayla~ we used to do that. just be silent in each other's presence.

we continue walking in silence. i start giggling a little.

i turn to him, kinda serious.

kayla~ all i wanted was for you to be her dad, for you to be in her life. and now...now she calls you daddy! and i should hate you for it but......

i look down. his head follows my eyes to the ground.

kayla~ ...and i might just let you. and im supposed to hate you. but after i heard her call you daddy. when i saw her in your arms. i felt like i was seeing the life i thought you would give me.

kayla~ you can, for dawn. jaden is the one giving me that life.

kayla~ it's not though. he was there. when i needed him, exactly where i needed him. i didn't have to wait 3 years.
