"Kenma! Take her to the moon for me!" A young Tetsurō called to his even younger friend.

He smiled brightly as he threw his teddy bear to his friend, who sent it up "into the air" while he sat in his cardboard rocket ship.

"Kenma! Don't hurt him!" Kuroo gasped, watching his bear fall as it hit the damp freshly cut grass beneath him.

"Sorry, Kurō." A small voice answered, it belonged to the boy who still sat in the ruined cardboard box, all soggy from the ground beneath him.

The small peep made Kuroo turn to see what had happened, running to his friend and offering his hand to get him out of the box. The other happily accepted, and stepped out; brushing off his shorts before hearing his mother calling for him to go back home.
The two boys hugged for a second before the younger sulked away, walking towards the woman who picked him up with a smile. With a final wave, Kenma was gone for the day; and Kuroo would have to wait a week to see him, again.

-

The whistle blared as the game ended, Kuroo fell with a smack of his feet on the floor as he tested up. They had made it to Nationals, and he blew it. Tears threatened to fall as he stared at the score; "Third set, 35-33."

Karasuno had won.

The upperclassman mentally cursed at himself before sighing and hiding his face in his hand, he couldn't believe it as he sank to the floor. Was this all his fault? Was he the reason his team didn't win? He was prone to anxiety attacks due to his parent's fights and what a therapist told him might be ptsd, though he never had one this bad. The uproar of the crowd triggered him to curl up on the floor and try and hide. He sensed a presence next to him, even when dissociated from reality he could tell when his best friend was next to him. A small frail hand had found it's way to his hair, and onto his back. Kuroo found the strength to lift his head into the much more comfortable lap of his feline-like friend, and all he could do was cry.
They sat there for almost an hour; the gym had been cleared and the pair was left alone. Silence was all the teens were surrounded by, until Kenma had started humming the tune to Kuroo's favorite song. The one song that was known to help Kuroo shift back to reality.
Even still, he laid there, basking in the presence of the one person he couldn't stand to be without.
The one person he'd fallen in love with.
