(Welcome to the first time I plan an entire book instead of winging it)

"We knew each other since the beginning."

It was another carefree day in Shinganshina. You were with your parents like always, helping them sell various products to paying customers. You were content just being with your family, customers who were regulars stopping by just to say 'Hi' at the little stall you were in.

Your family sold things like bread and fruit, maybe even small handmade candies. It was a nice job to do for a living. It was also a simple and easy job for you to do at your age. Your parents even let you greet customers.

Today, you managed to meet a young boy about the same age as you. It was by chance, Your parents went to get more supplies and let you watch the stall. You stood there as you watched people walk by, it was certainly busy on the streets today.

Then the boy came up, he had brown hair and slate colored eyes. You give a polite smile as he comes up to the stall. You tried your best not to be nervous, as your parents weren't back yet.

"Hello!" You greet the boy as you watched him look over what was in the stall. He looks up at you and widens his eyes, almost like he forgot you were there.

"Oh, Hi!" He greets back with a smile. He seemed nice, and you appreciated that. You weren't the person who dealt with the rude customers, your parents usually were. "What's your name? Do you run this stall alone?"

"No, I don't. I run it with my parents, they're getting more supplies right now. My name is (Y/N), and you?" You ask curiously. You weren't expecting him to ask you your name, but it would be nice to have a new friend to see now and then.

"Eren. I was just looking to buy some snacks for my friends." The boy, Eren, answers. You nod and point around the stall.

"We have a ton of treats and snacks, you can pick some of those out, I'll find out how much it costs."

"You're good at math?"

"My parents taught me a little, mostly because of our profession."

"That's cool!"

As Eren picked out the snacks for his friends, he chatted with you. It was all idle talk, just discussing favorite games to play and what was it like to run the stall with your parents. He must've taken too long, for you saw two other kids come towards your stall. One was a blond boy, the other a black haired girl.

"Eren! Where have you been?" The girl asks the boy in front of you. Eren seemed surprised but turned around.

"Was I really that long, Mikasa? Sorry, I must have gotten sidetracked." Eren sighs in an embarrassed tone, holding the snacks he bought from you. "I was just talking with the shopkeeper."

You look towards the girl who you assumed was named Mikasa and gave a curt wave.

"Is she the girl at the stall? She looks to be our age." The blonde boy comments, Eren nodding in confirmation.

"She is, she works with her parents and is awfully nice." Eren smiles before turning to you. "Thanks for the snacks! I hope we can talk again!"

You smile and make a hum in confirmation as you waved the three goodbye.

"I hope so too!"

From then on, Eren saw you a lot more often. It wasn't even just at the stall anymore, he would willingly invite you to hang out with him somewhere else. Eren was a nice friend to have, he would tell you about Mikasa and Armin and even let you hang out with them with him.

Eren fascinated you with stories he got from Armin, tales of large bodies of water and lakes of fire! It was interesting to listen to even if you weren't sure if you should believe it. Eren took you everywhere, and your parents thought it was cute of you two to do everything together.

Bird Watching, Tag, Small little picnics, laying in the grass, everything. It was peaceful, and made you feel warm inside. You wanted it to last forever.

However, all good things come to an end.

It was chaos, you quaked in your father's arms as he ran with you. Your mother was long gone, yet your father made sure to never let you see the details. Your tears soaked your father's shirt as you waited in the crowd.

Shinganshina, the once happy district you called home, had been torn to shreds by titans. You gripped onto your father more as you eyed the crowd of people waiting to get on the boat. Your body wracked with sobs as you hoped your friends were at least okay.

Your father rubs your back, shushing you and trying to calm you down.

"It's gonna be okay, (Y/N), We're gonna make it."

Who knew that ever since this event, your life would go from heaven to hell,

and it wouldn't be because of the titans.

~Author After Thought~: Finishing this chapter I think I could of executed this better. I wanted to add more moments of you and Eren bonding, maybe even making Reader have more of a connection to Mikasa and Armin, but never got to put it in. But I can still fix this in later chapters with flash backs, so I am not too worried right now. Let me know what you think.
