I woke up, looking at the clock. 5:00 a.m. My shift started in an hour so I was forced to get out of bed. I skip breakfast since I was never really a morning person. As I get to my post, I notice something is off. The lights, which are only used if absolutely needed too, we're turned on. I get to my post and look out my window. 20 feet below me, a big nasty Maxian stands. It's eyes were locked to mine. I stood, frozen with immense fear.

"Joe! What the..." A voice I didn't recognize at the time ended so abruptly. Breaking of the windows followed. The Maxian had thrown a small Carolla at us.

I load my AK and start firing, short and quick burst. As bullets fly left and right, the Maxian stands up. And when it does so, it's 25 ft long tail, armed with a razor sharp dagger on the end, comes out and shows itself. I duck down as quickly as I can. As I tried to warn my buddy a few feet away, the tail of the Maxian came flying in, taking the poor soul with it.

I try to call for Matt, but he was nowhere to be found. As I run to the armory, I grab the flamethrower. Fire seems to be one of the very few weaknesses they have. I grab two and give the other to Edson, the captain of this compound. We fire our weapons at the same time, and when we do, the Maxian cries out in pain and fury. I think we just ticked it off.

Nothing was working, and still, Matthew was nowhere to be found. That idiot! Where is he? Running out of ammo, I run to the armory, and when on my way there, I see Matthew in the showers like nothing is happening. "Matthew! Why aren't you manning to freaking post?!" I scream so loudly my throat hurts.

"Don't yell at me like that. What's the matter? Why are you all dirty?" He asked in a calm voice.

"There's a freaking Maxian outside and while your in here taking a nice relaxing shower, people are dying! We've already lost like 7 or 8 people! Come on get ready. Oh, and bring the bazookas!" I say screaming loudly, again.

I go straight to the armory, and see two grenades. I grab them both along with three clips of ammo. I ran back as fast as I could. But when I got there, everyone was gone. The Maxian was gone also. I was too late. The creature had taken at least 20 lives. Even Captain Edson. My heart sank when I picked up his own personal cigar case. Engraved with his initials, ECD.
