"You are all over the news honey,"

My mother. The prime reason why I do what I do. She's been my motivation, my support group, and most importantly, my best friend, but today I think she just wanted to nag at me.

"You need to consider what people are saying."

"Mom, nothing is going to happen if I remain single. Nothing."

If only I knew this. If only I had taken my mother's advice the first time she told me.

Just like my mother, the founder of Haute Mode or the Senior Editor, Evangeline Harris, thought I should indeed have a man on my arm just to bring more attention to the magazine. I thought this was pretty low, but this was my new job on the line.

"I won't force him on you with any blind dates, but here are a few options," Evangeline didn't bother to allow me to put down my coat or even get settled at my desk; she practically threw me into her office. "The first one is Nathan Thomas,"

The picture she pointed to was of a man that was neatly groomed, polished and well-dressed. His chin was slightly covered in facial hair, but it wasn't all over the place either. Those eyes. Those blue, luminescent eyes that could probably glisten in the moonlight (possibly outshine it) on a perfect summer night. He intrigued me. Beyond compare. "He is the new CEO of Men's World, and a multi-millionaire." Millionaire?

"Next one, is Andrew McPaul." This guy was soft on the eyes, and cleanly shaven. The picture was on the red carpet, and his suit was tailored to fit the occasion. My eyes dazzled at the way the crowd in the background cheered for him, and his hands met the outside of his suit, fixing it for the cameras. He appeared to be a man of his word, and only about his business though. "He is an actor, and model, but he is currently looking for the one."

"What do you think, Maxine?" Evangeline's eyes stared at me, into the depths of my soul. If I didn't take these offers, she wouldn't stop to find me a suitable match, and possibly fire me if I didn't find one.

"Can you set up dates?" After I spoke these words, she scrambled, squealed, and grabbed hold of her phone. She called several people, and I took this as my signal to go to my office, and sulk.

"Woah, Andrew McPaul? He's like the hottest piece of sexiness," Amarie, along with the rest of my friends, sat in my office after I had called an 'S.O.S' meeting, asking them for advice. "How are you going to ask him out?"

"It's actually not me doing this. It's Evangeline!" I pushed the back of my chair towards the wall behind me as I crossed my legs near my desk. "She wants me to have some type of eye candy on my arm."

"Eye candy? This is more like a full course dessert," Jennifer was fixated on the picture of Nathan, and only him. "How old are these guys?"

"Andrew is twenty-three, and Nathan is twenty-five," Grace spoke up, darting her information into the conversation as she glanced up at us. We were startled by her response, so everyone just froze. "What? I told you I had an obsession with hot, rich guys."

"Grace, you have an obsession with everything," Jennifer back fired, raising an eyebrow before drawing her attention back to me. "I think you should try it out, Max. It might lead to something,"

"Jen's right," Amarie stood up, then pointed her index fingers directly at me. "You need a man."

"Plus, these guys could actually help the magazine," Grace stuffed her phone in her pocket, sitting up in the small couch. "They are pretty wealthy!"

Could Jennifer be right? This could actually turn into the man I marry, or at least someone I start seeing for a long period of time. This couldn't be to bad, right?

"That was literally the worst dates of my life," The night was still young, and I was tired of it already.

I managed to escape from Andrew's clutches of yammering about his days in college and how he become very wealthy.

Midway of his conversation, I almost puked (mentally of course) and that was my cue to create so factious lie about how my friend, Jennifer was suffering from asthma. Fortunely, he took this lie so gracefully that he even offered to take me home.

Once I finally got in my door, I dropped my bag on the floor, dragging my feet and trying to keep myself from either fainting on the white rug or dying on the wooden floor panels of boredom.

"This is so stupid," I commented about a lie that appeared on the tv the moment I clicked it on. "I am not gay!"

Once I slammed down the remote, I rubbed my temples, and shed off my dress, and grabbing my sweater I left on the arm of the couch.

The sweater brought the quick warmth that I needed, and with this, I relaxed into the cushion and ignored all the pointless drivel that came from the reporter's mouth.

Beep! Beep!

My phone's display screen lit up my purse, and the sound caused me to pick it up, seeing who had disturbed me during this meditation time.

[jenn]
look at this link! OMG.
theuser.com

Jennifer had a habit of texting in our group message so, immediately my friends jumped in with their two sense.

[amarie]
you really going to believe that? but the guy is hot tho.

[grace]
OMG he is hot!!! his name is Niall? That's cute, sounds Irish!

I clicked the link for myself and a screen popped up asking for my name and age for certification. I did so, then the page lit up with different titles and descriptions of what this guy does.

[me]
he let's people use him?

[amarie]
that's weird.

[jenn]
Just try! he'll come within a day. He'll be here by tomorrow night!

[me]
No. I'm not doing that.

It doesn't sound legit at all. It sounds suspicious, and illegal. Does he even have morals? What kind of guy is he?

[jenn]
Too bad. I already signed you up. He's coming to your job tomorrow.

[me]
What?!

[amarie]
Jenn. you are so evil.

Tomorrow morning?! She's crazy! He can't come here, to visit me, to let me use him! He just can't!

[grace]
Woot woot. Go jenn.

I let my friends continue to talk about Niall and his ways of 'working', and with that, I tossed my phone across the room, hitting the other chair with a thud.

For some reason, I wanted to hurt Jenn and make sure she knows what she did was wrong, but part of me wanted to hug her for taking a chance.
