Chapter TWO

Sebastien Ingold looked around the crowded ballroom with distaste. The very same people who were desperately trying to seek his attention were the ones who had scorned him endlessly years before. They belittled him and thought he was nothing short of scum on the bottom of their feet.

Well, he had showed them.

In a little more than a decade, Ingold Corporation had gone from a bankrupt sham to a multi-billion dollar corporation. For the first time since his great grandfather had established his very first resort, Ingold Corporation was listed as a front runner in Fortune 500, a reminder to everyone who crossed Sebastien’s path that the young tycoon was not someone to simply disregard.

The tabloids loved him. Who was this mysterious genius who at the young age of 35 brought the hotelier industry to its knees?

If only they knew that the man who wore the custom made Alexander Amosu Suit with ease once worked as a stableman just to make ends meet. If only they knew that at one point of his life, Sebastien had been more than tempted to sell off the shining jewel of Ingold Industries, the Mona Lisa of 5 star accommodations, the exclusive and luxurious Adara Resort.

No one knew that a mere 18 years ago, the Adara was near collapse at the reigns of Sebastien’s father. Heck, there were times where paying the unsatisfied workers was near impossible! The lobby which had once housed a variety of royalty had been in shambles. Sebastien’s grandfather’s pride and joy, the $18 million dollar chandelier had been rusted beyond hope without any intervention on his father’s part.

Sebastien had grown up at the Adara and the sad state of the Adara had crushed him. All his great-grandfather’s toils! And what did it amount to? A useless son-in-law who left the Adara bankrupt and desolate.

On Sebastien’s seventeenth birthday, everything changed with the blink of an eye.

His parents were coming home from a party thrown by a business partner when a drunk driver rear ended the BMW. Sebastien’s father had lost control of the car, sending he and his wife into a ditch.Neither had survived the collision and Sebastien was left an orphan.

None of his relatives were willing to raise a rebellious 17 year old with no respect for authority. One of his uncles eventually did take him in, but his reasons were far from platonic and caring.

Adara was indeed in shambles but it was still under Sebastien’s name. If sold off, Adara was worth quite a pretty penny. The history of the place and its name alone would tempt even the most hardened businessman.

Sebastien had known that; why else would the old bat send him to boarding school the very first chance he got? But, no one was taking his birthright away from him. Adara was his grandfather’s pride and joy; it was an Ingold property and even at 17, Sebastien had the determination to make a name for himself.

And he had done that. After graduating as valedictorian at the boarding school, he had attended Stanford University, graduating sum laude, a feat even more amazing when taking into consideration that he had done so within the span of three years. He had worked his ass off, literally begging for internships any chance he got. Doors had been slammed in his face more times than he could count. He had been told that he was simply too young and inexperienced hundred, if not, thousands of times.

But, Sebastien had remained as determined as an ox. And that had paid off in the long term. By the time he was 22, he had finally made it to the big leagues. As the newest addition to the Harley &  D'Chartalei Corporation, he had made quite a splash when he landed the largest deal in over 40 years, landing the corporation a staggering 6.4 million dollar deal.
