Ausar walked down into the chambers. This was where his new bodies were created and stored. Why did he go down there? He didn't really know, it was just a feeling that something wasn't right. As he walked the halls of the chamber he looked at the pods containing his cloned bodies. Up ahead he noticed a light. His chamber servants had all retired for the day and he allowed them. He couldn't have tired Regeneration Workers.
He approached the light source, drawing his Vile Blade. Rounding the corner, he saw one of his Elites at a deadmind station. The deadminds were A.I.s programmed to perform digital tasks for the Deathless.
Ausar approached the man quietly and his blade lit up as he willed the Dark Fire around it. Of course he didn't have control over that element. Having a gem in his blade allowed him to. Partially.
"What are you doing here?" Ausar asked.
The man turned and, seeing Ausar there, he dashed for the entrance and Ausar chased after him. As the Elite continued to run, Ausar stopped and whistled. From the corridors of the castle, Daeril came forth. An Acolyte, a bird-human hybrid, grabbed the man. The Elite screamed. The humanoid Daerils were all much more horrendous up close, and this one was no exception. Ausar approached them.
"Now how about you answer my question before you become his next meal?" He smiled cruelly.

"No, I can't tell you Lord Ausar. The Worker of Secrets is responsible. That's all I can say. Just let me live-"

"Wrong answer." Ausar stabbed the Elite straight through the chest. The Dark Fire on his blade caused it to be a very painful death. The Daeril looked down, awaiting orders from its master.

"Dispose of him in any way you want."

He headed back into the chambers and looked at what the Elite had been working on. The deadmind's screen displayed the vitals and stats of someone. Ausar looked at the pod containing its body. It was a clone of him, but still almost a child. He pulled up the DNA on this clone. It was exactly the same, except for a few parts. Less than a third of the DNA was from a dragon.
"So you aren't all human. You won't live much longer anyway" he said.
Ausar raised his blade and it lit up once more in Dark Fire. Just as he would have smashed through the pod and killed the clone, the Dark Fire leapt from his sword and surrounded the pod. Ausar stepped back. Even he wasn't immune to the deadly element. The fire circled the pod, serpent-like, protecting the clone.
"A wielder of Dark Fire? That's impossible!" Ausar looked at the deadmind's screen again. The clone wasn't showing any signs of being burned or poisoned. No darkness consuming it. He was indeed immune and subconsciously controlling it.
"Maybe you can serve me a purpose, son. Born of Deathless and dragon DNA, you will be known as Ryeth. Rebirth of the Deathless and of me."
