It was a nice evening. Daniel was up late watching movies with Ace, wanting to enjoy a quiet night with him. He knew it had been a bit since they had been able to do this together. Ace was leaning right against the males shoulder, wrapped tightly inside of a blanket. He smiled and nuzzled Daniel's shoulder as he sighed in comfort as he watched the movie with the male. Daniel smiled softly and wrapped his arm around him, rubbing his side slowly. "It's getting close to the end of the movie. After it is over, we should head to bed. It's like two fifty-six." he said quietly. He looked at the time and nodded while stretching. "I can't believe it is already close to three." He said to him and shut his eyes for a few seconds and yawned a bit. Daniel nodded with a soft smile. "Yeah. spending time with you sure does fly~" He kissed him gently. "I'm so glad we got to spend tonight together....I've missed just being able to hold you like this...." He whispered. He blushed a little at his words and nuzzled his shoulder. "I really do miss it too..." He said quietly and smiled up at him. "I wish we had more free time to do this more often, that would just be the best." Daniel chuckled softly. "Same here, baby.....it really has sucked to not be around you as much. Though if I end up getting this promotion, I can work from home....." he smiled. "So then we could possibly do this more." he nuzzled him. He smiled and nuzzled him back. "I would really love that..." He said softly and took his hand in his own and held it. He smiled and looked up at him again and kissed his cheek. Daniel smiled more. "Good...." He went to lean in to kiss the tan boy's lips, though soon froze as he heard something. Crying. "B-Babycakes.....why.....why do I hear a child crying......?" He asked slowly, beginning to look down the hallway that led to the garage door. Ace gripped his hand and frowned. He looked down the hallway also, a bit freaked out to hear the crying. "I think... I think we might just be tired..." He said quietly and clung to Daniels arm in fear. "I wish that was the case.....but if both of us can hear it......it couldn't be that...." he whispered. "Go.....go hide in the room......we don't know what this is.....so to be safe.....get the crucifix, the bat, the salt, anything else you can think of to defend from humans or otherwise....." He told him. "I'm going to find out what it is. If I open the door and anything sounds off, hide. Don't come out till morning." He demanded. He frowned and nodded. Do you remember where the gun is? Please make sure you bring that too..." He said and slowly got up, clinging onto the blanket. He nodded, rushing to the room and grabbing the gun off of his nightstand. "Careful, baby." He said softly and went back into the living room, going to the hallway and staring down it for a minute, building up the courage. The crying was much clearer now. "HELP ME! HELP ME PLEASE! THERE IS A BAD MAN OUT HERE!" the voice of a young child screamed from the other side. He didn't want to even move. He froze up and started to shake in fear. "I-I don't like this. Maybe we should just call the police, please..." He asked while his voice was shaking from the fear. He had to sit down and stare down the hallway. "Baby, just go hide in the room, call the cops and the neighbors while I figure out what is going on." Daniel told him. He wanted to make sure Ace was safe, no matter what. "I don't want you going outside..." He told him and grabbed his phone and held it against his chest. "I don't want you getting hurt..." He said and started to dial the police with shaky hands. "Fine." He sighed softly and went to the room with him, shutting and locking every door, including their bedroom door for extra measures. "But as soon as you get off the phone with them, call the neighbors. Ask if they can look into our garage and figure it out from their place." He said, worried. He nodded and quickly called the police and made a report crying and shouting at their door. Once he had got off the phone he immediately called their neighbor, hoping they would pick up.They picked up. "Hello?" a woman's voice answered sweetly. "Something I can help you with, Ace, honey?" He hesitantly responded to her, on the verge of tears. "C-Could you look outside y-your window and into our garage? Please, I am begging you..." He said and took a deep breath. She frowned. "Ah, sure honey." she looked out her window, gasping and screaming. Suddenly, the crying at their garage stopped, but was soon heard on the other line. Another scream was heard before the line went dead. He dropped the phone from shock and just stared at Daniel with wide eyes. He teared up and opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by the sound of a loud crash in the garage. He screamed and curled up as he started to sob. He quickly covered Ace's mouth. "Shh, be quiet" he demanded, listening closely. There was no crying. It was dead silent other than Ace's sobs. And that is what made him more fearful. He clung to his arm and gripped it tightly. He continues to sob from the fear and grabbed his phone and dialed the police again and let Daniel speak. Daniel took the phone, whispering. "We have a possible break in. How far out are the police cars?" he asked shakily. "They will be there in about eight minutes sir, they are going as fast as they can to get there." A lady responded and stayed on the line. He sighed. "Well, my boyfriend is traumatized after calling our neighbor, so I am assuming whatever it is, killed or injured her. Please send a medical team too. And we have a big problem. We can't figure out where it is. We heard a crash and now pure silence." he explained. "Alright, sending paramedics on the way. Hang tight alright?" She told him and got to typing to send paramedics out."alright, thank you-" He froze, looking at the door handle that was moving and jiggling. "Baby....hide.....now....." He whispered. He shook his head and clung to him. "I-I'm not hiding without you!" He whisper shouted at him and just clung to him in fear, hoping this was all just some messed up dream. He shoved him into a hiding place and then got under the bed. He made sure Ace was well hidden and that he kept his gun ready to shoot, in case it approached him or Ace. Whatever it was began slamming itself into the door, snarling and growling. He covered his own mouth a s he went to scream in fear. He started to sob more and clung to Daniels arm, wanting all of this to just end. Daniel could hear the wailing of the police siren. "Its ok, baby, we are almost safe-" He was cut off by the door breaking, sending wood flying everywhere as a horrid looking creature burst in. Its head was like the skull of a buck, its body resembled that of a starving ox, and while its back legs had hooves, the front legs seemed to have humanoid hands with claws. He went pale. "The Wendigo....." He whispered under his breath, knowing it already could smell them. It let out an inhuman scream, trying to get to them as Daniel repeatedly shot it. Though the creature soon pulled back, it gave Daniel a nasty scratch on his shoulder, making him yell out in pain. He screamed and pulled Daniel back to try and help him. He couldn't do much since he had no weapon and was frozen, staring at the beast in absolute fear and shock. He panted and continued to shoot it till it ran off, letting out animalistic screams. The police walked in and helped them to the ambulances, informing them of the death of their neighbor. She had been ripped open from her chest to her stomach. It's as if whatever killed her took all of her organs. And it didn't leave a single one behind. So whatever happened, they were lucky to live through it. He had stopped crying, having no strength left to do anything but sit up straight. His face was stained with tears from all the crying. He had also gotten blood on his clothing from when the wendigo had clawed Daniel. He was completely mortified at what had happened and would never forget it. He just stared blankly at the ground, forever traumatized. Daniel wasn't too different either. He could never sleep in the dark again. He could never stay up late again. And there was no way in hell that he would have a garage again. Not to mention, he became overly protective of Ace. Refused to allow him to do anything alone. Neither would be the same. And neither would ever be truly safe.
